The All-Time BEST Piece Of DJ Equipment You Can Buy

Everybody has an answer to this question, and it's good that this got you thinking. If you watch the video (silly suggestion, I know), I'm not speaking metaphorically here. I'm also not talking about a concept, general technology or an accessory to assist you in any way. It's not a trick question, ether. I'm talking about an actual specific piece of equipment, with a model number, currently in production that a Mobile DJ can buy brand new today. You'll only have to buy it once, it's in nearly every DJ's budget & you can hand it down to your kids, grandkids, etc, which has already happened in stories I've read from others praising this particular piece of equipment. So, with that... 🙂

I think I can Trump the SM58 by a lot. The absolute best piece of DJ gear I've ever bought with the most value to me & my DJ business and has last for years & years has nothing to do with DJ tech, sound or lights. It"s my Rock n' Roller cart!!! Nothing has helped my gig work more & nothing has saved my health more. Best DJ gear money I ever spent.

Totally agree. I've been a mobile karaoke DJ since 1992 & that is the ONLY mic I've ever used.

My DJ rig SM58 was bought new in 1996 and still works like a brand new one. I have a few wireless SM58s for weddings and reunions and the like, but my "booth" mic is the old wired SM58 that's coming up on 30 years old. I keep a foam screen on it so it looks like new, and I can't imagine ever having to replace it. It's definitely the oldest piece of gear that I'm still using - it was bought at the tail end of my first rig, and I've now been using my third-gen rig for about 10 years.

Totally agree. I have a beat up SM58 that works perfectly. I noticed on Amazon they sell aftermarket screens for it. Thought about getting some to replace the dented up one I have.

Pioneer DJM400. Back when Pioneer made stuff with metal. Now they're cranking out plastic junk. The DJM400 ---had it rained on a few times, sat in the sun for hours, dust storms. I have 2 of them. Solid and dependable.

I have two heavy duty Hercules light stands that have stood the test of time and they work as good as they did when I bought them 20 years ago
Just amazing value and reliability 😊👍

I have a 2 SM58 and SM58A. I also picked up a wireless transmitter and receiver for it. This way the whoever needs to make a speech can use that one but the one I use is on a 3 foot XLR Cable.

So nice to hear that I'm not the only one.
I love my SM58LC - Like you said.... It's like my toothbrush - No One Touch It!!!
Love you stuff and have for a long time.
Keep doing you!

Shure sm58 is a great piece of gear but we’ve all moved over to digital wireless. I’d say the best piece of gear is the rock n roller cart I bought back in 2002 and I still use it. Even when I needed to get my new 400 pound safe into the house I used that cart!

I agree. I have two of them. And my wireless element is SM58. It’s the industry standard and the best.

Back in the day the Denon DN-200F was a workhorse, if you had a scratched CD that would not play in any other CD player....put it in a DN-200F, it played like new.

UREI 1620, Technics 1200, Peavey CS-800, a lot of analog Rane gear like MP24, MP2016.

I know a lot of people will say Technics SL-1200MK2 and its various of models. But I say it has to be Pioneer DJ xdj-xz (at least for now)

Good call. Get one from a dealer though as there are loads of fakes on eBay. Got there as I typed it!

The Shure SM58 is the standard, it has rightfully earned a reputation. I used it before, until I discovered the EV N/D 767a. It's very durable and better than the SM58 in clarity, loudness & feedback rejection. The EV N/D 767a blows the SM58 out of the water.
