14 years ago, Bali's most handsome prince, Tjok Gus, married a commoner, the famous Indonesian actress Happy Salma. Her Muslim family objected to Happy marrying a Hindu, prince or not. As it turned out, the young prince repeated the fate of his father, who married an ordinary Australian woman, and their life was far from fabulous. But how did the family life of a poor prince and a rich actress who paid for a lavish wedding for 2500 guests? In Indonesia, there’s a law that the married couple need to have one faith. If they are of the same faith, no problem. But, if for example, the woman is Christian and the man is Muslim, either the woman needs to convert to Islam or the man converts to Christianity or vice versa. So, I think she converted to Hinduism before the marriage.
