If you've seen my shorts, you've already gotten a little taste at what this process has looked like for me but I thought it was important to share with you guys the whole story.

I AM a positive person and I DO look at even the hardest situations in an optimistic way, but still...this is potentially the end of my livelihood and my career as I know it and I'm finally ready to take you guys on that ride with me.

Thanks for the love, everyone ❤ My official diagnosis is a bulged disc, sacroiliac joint pain, spinal stenosis, and degenerative disc disease 🙃

Alley, I am NOT a doctor but I was a combat medic for 26 years. (Trained in PT, spinal and thoracic injuries) And having dealt with 100's of back injuries over the years, both my own and other people. I can tell you that your case is NOT being handled well. If you are looking for guidance and a direction to take for actually healing and getting back to normal, I would suggest that the first step would be to have an independent doctor determine whether the disc in question is actually bulging or in fact herniated. There IS a difference as well as a difference in treatment. Remember, the ship med staff have a duty to protect the cruise line from on the job injury claims, not necessarily you. Anyway, if you have any questions, I'm always around... BIG HUGS and much ❤as always!

I'm a Physical Therapist in Idaho and on behalf of all PT's I'm so sorry for that appointment. We all have bad days but what a fail. I'm really glad they let you go do an MRI, a lot of time they make people wait the 6 weeks. Way to advocate for yourself! When you get back to the point that PT would be beneficial, shop around until you find someone that you feel is invested in you and takes their role seriously. My wife and I have watched your videos since we started going on cruises, and you're the best! I hope your recovery keeps moving forward.

Your instincts of pushing back on a poor medical assessment was spot on. Even if it was stressful to endure, way to go advocating for yourself! I did the same after having a major injury and a poor medical experience. You did the right thing, and I hope you recovery quickly!

The way they treated your back issues made my skin crawl - Im glad medical listened to you and that you're on your way to getting back on that stage.

It constantly amazes me at how crap some 'professionals' are at doing their job!! I'm glad you finally got a diagnosis and can work on rehab and recovery! I hope you will keep doing videos because I love following your journey. All the best for recovery xx

My wife is a PT and she thought the "treatment" you described was horrible. It would even be worth reporting as they did nothing for you. That being said, outstanding for being your own patient advocate like this. Feeling like you were not getting the answers you needed and not stopping till you did. Yes a hard road, but well worth it.

Enjoy your time finding peace and rebuilding. It's through the trials we grow and based on the overwhelming positive attitude you've always had, I'm sure you'll come through this time even better than before. Godspeed!

Showing the full story for your injury is so very important. It is both brave and heart warming. You have opened up, showing that although you live in a world of glitz and glamour, people in your profession have human issues too. Secondly, you are actually helping to comfort people going through the same thing, as they will feel they are not alone. I wish you all the best, and trust you will get through this most difficult time with all the grace you have shown over the years on this channel.

Awe, I just wanna hug you and tell you everything is going to be okay. 😢
I have disc issues and have been through all the useless PT bullshit, so I know what you’re going through. I can’t tell you that it gets better, but I can tell you that you get used to it and learn to deal with it.
Sending you love and support. ❤

Hey Alley, I just recently started watching your channel and I'm a Loyal to Royal cruiser. I am 29 years old and used to be a delivery driver for Amazon and got injured last July with a similar issue. The first doctor I saw a few weeks later in August completely ignored my pain and didn't even want to perform X-rays that day which I kindly requested. Those came back fine and he referred me to PT. At that point I was having sciatic pain all the way from my left hip area to my toes. I went to PT for months (October to January) and had some relief yet still wasn't fully healing. Finally they agreed to do an MRI in February when I literally could not work anymore due to the pain. The MRI showed I had 2 herniated disks in my L4/5 area and that I did in fact need surgery. After watching your video, it's actually nice to know someone my age is actually going through this too since it's rare for people our age. I have surgery coming up mid April but I am taking a cruise on Freedom of the Seas before that 😅 I wish you a speedy recovery! I'll be following along to see how it goes

Appreciate you being vulnerable and sharing your story so openly. And… thank you for being a solid example of someone who knows what they want and takes the steps to get that even when others tell you something different. Sending you flowers, smoothies, and healing vibes
