Mucho respect Mr. Hughes. I love your uploads - there isn't enough YouTube gold like this to sift through - but us cray cray on the internet folks want accurate dates on landmark Supreme Court cases like Everson. Keep up the awesomeness

Very amusing! I am a 46 years old teacher of philosophy and social studies in spain. I learn a lot with this videos. Constitution and bill of rights in usa are based on philosophy, not on history. That's the reason they are so great. There is not only a wall between state and church, there is a priority of the state over the church or churches as Spinoza the philosopher said in 1600s

ha! you are too kind my liberty loving comrade (I thought you would enjoy the irony there). I am from downstate originally near NYC but I live in the great white north (that was a snow reference not a race reference) in Buffalo on the other side of the state. Some other time for sure.

Good to know that people who oppose gay marriage because of their religion pay no mind that as they can do such, it shouldn't be prohibited by law because so, as basing a law off of religion violates our constitution... Right?

Question! Does the 1st amendment only applies to the government and not to private companies and businesses?

You are awesome. A few more teachers like you, might actually have an effect on our children's education.

Considering the fact that a large number of the founding fathers advocated the use of the bible as a required textbook in schools, it is absurd to consider it unconstitutional to allow prayer at school functions. Jefferson, the president quoted out of context to create the "wall of separation" attended church in the capitol building on Sundays. That's right, the US Capitol Building where congress met during the week was a church on Sundays.
