I followed the video instructions and with a few issues on the way managed to get it all working fine and I now have remote access from my iPhone.
Like others I failed at the check config stage as I hadn't started duckdns to create the SSL directories. Once I did that and restarted home assistant I lost all access to it. Watched some more of the video, tried to prefix the local IP address with https and still no access. HA was starting but was inaccessible. Decided to carry on and setup the port forwarding (which on my router required defining a custom HA application containing port 8123) before I could setup the port forwarding rule. Changed the HA instance to a static IP address as well.
And then it all worked ok, so maybe the port forwarding was what I needed?
Thanks

tip: u need to start the plugin to generate the keys before checking the config or it will fail

I love your videos. Very easy to follow, however, I have been having the darnedest time with some of this stuff. I'm a n00b to HA but I like to think that I'm fairly technically saavy. Hell, I work in IT, lol. But...I've had trouble with multiple things. 1)I got Samba Share installed and config'd per your other video but for the life of me cannot access either via IP or name, the files in Windows Explorer.

2)I can install add-ons like DuckDNS, Samba etc, but it absolutely WILL NOT install Studio Code Server due to some no route to host error.
3)I started DuckDNS, copied the configuration for SSL and updated the configuration.yaml (using File Editor add-on) and check configuration. No go. Will not pass validation.

Man, this thing seems very finicky. I'm wanting to get this all done so I can move onto your next video about going through the free Google Home configuration....

With my router I can access my https duckdns URL externally but I can't access it at home! This means I have to change the home assistant URL in the app when I leave the house. Any ideas please?

I followed all the steps, yet i cannot access external Https.
the internal access has been changed to https.
Does anyone knows why?

This didn't work for me. Thanks @Ben Dover for the tip to start the plugin! After starting the plugin and following all the instructions in the video, I'm now logging into my local homeassistant with https, however it says not secure (annoying, but expected per the video). Trying to connect externally it's not working for me. I port forwarded 8123 to 8123 for both udp and tcp per the video's instructions. No dice. Off to find another video...

not clear at all. Some instructions are useful but this is not a step by step guide.
