DJI Spark vs Mavic 2 Pro - Can you tell the difference?

The DJI Spark was released over a year and a half ago and is still one of the most popular drones on the market. The DJI Mavic 2 Pro came out only 2 months ago and has now set the bar extremely high by enhancing all aspects of the existing Mavic Pro, including a larger 1" sensor. The Mavic 2 Pro in all specifications of course exceed the DJI Spark, but at the end of the day, are you able to spot the differences straight out of camera on a bright sunny day?

I've had my spark 1 yr and will never change...took it to the Philippines pic and videos are amazing. Dnt need 4k and I like how small the spark is and how it handles.

Brilliant video. In virtually every comparison video involving the Spark, it always appears to have the more attractive footage, especially pre editing. Given the significant price difference, for 90% of consumers, it is the sensible choice. I would add that the best comparison would be between the Spark and the Mavick Air. However, even then, in my humble opinion, the Spark is it's equal purely in terms of footage. There maybe better functionality in other more expensive drones, but in reality the quality difference does not justify the extra cost. In any event, any DJI drone will be excellent quality, and your choice is purely a personal matter. So whatever you do, enjoy your DJI drone, and create some interesting, imaginative and beautiful memories. Kind regards to all. Errol.

Very interesting, I upgraded to the MP2 from the Spark and my footage overall seems WAYYY better. Plus the spark goes slow compared to the MP2. The only way to get a little fast on the spark is to go into sport mode, which of course it makes the camera in POV mode and the footage is basically not usable. I could hardly go a mile on my Spark before worrying about my battery or signal dropping.

The MP2 is definitely the best bet.

Spark is plenty good enough in comparison. Honestly I wouldn't notice the difference in a video.

I agree with you, it all comes down on how you intend to use it for.
Many people always ask "whats the best camera?" and the answer is...Its the one you already have. You just need to practice to get better.

Great video ! Is amazing what you can do with the spark, especially when you see the price of this two amazing drones. And the spark is already a little more then 1 year old

Aldryn, Wow, what a great comparison! The DJI Spark really gave the Mavic 2 a run for its money in the comparisons. All that being said, with the Mavic 2 you can set up all your proper camera setting for some fantastic imaging that you can't do with the Spark. I only missed on two of them. The Spark appeared to look better in the first couple so I used that from then on and got it every time. It is good to get real once in a while. Still happy with my Maic Pro and the Air though I have to admit that I seldom fly the Air. Maybe it is sell time as I did with the Spark. Nice job.

Well done! I have 7 DJI drones including these 2. Where Spark matches every other drone is in 360 sphere photos providing you do all your own stitching and photoshop production.

I love my Spark. It was allot more cost effective for what I do. The video quality of the Spark is really good. Also the follow me feature is so easy to use with Spark. I use mine to follow me while kayak fishing. So its recreational. The only way I would spend more on a drone, was if I used it commercially. Because like you said, most people can't really upload the 4k video anyway.

I have both, now if you had shot in 4K and downscaled to 1080 the difference would have been day and night. There's a ton of other features you pay for in the Mavic Pro 2, and with the new Smart Controller the Mavic Pro 2 is actually faster to setup and easier to use than the spark. I would say entry level go for the spark, but if you've had a Mavic Air, or Phantom 4, or Mavic Pro and want to upgrade the Mavic Pro 2 with the Smart Controller is the best move you can make right now.

The Mavic 2 Pro shots all have much higher dynamic range and it felt much smoother, probably from using a better or higher bitrate codec compared to the spark. I could identify easily which shot was which for all of them except for the top down shot of the waves where there wasn't much dynamic range to compare. The Spark seems to blow out highlights quite a bit and it compresses the footage more than what comes out of the Mavic 2 Pro even when downscaled.

Awesome video. Who knew Sparky was such a competitor! So...no kidding...this past Saturday, I shot a similar video comparing footage between the Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom to see if people could tell the difference. This was great and good to know that you don't have to always have the most expensive tool to get acceptable results!
