I’m calling it now anthem is set in a failed terraformation process. And the precursors are a more advanced humanity.

This is actually kind of interesting.
Why wasn't something in the spirit of this video, showcased at e3?
Instead we got that horrific tripe, that honestly kinda put me off the game all together.

Keep in mind Destiny had a lot of "mystery" in its story too. They keep using the word "unfinished" when describing the story, I am definitely waiting for reviews.

So many people are shooting this game down, I get that this is being made from EA but this is a concept that sounds interesting to me. The way you can free roam on land and underwater is cool and the place must be huge shown from the previous gameplay. I get it may look like destiny or warframe but this has it's own concept that I haven't seen any other game do right now. I am curious and hope this game can live up to the expectations of others.

All I can think of is " this world is unfinished just like most of EA's games" for real though I hope this game does do well BioWare needs a second chance

To all the people saying "They're leaving too much to mystery." or "This is like Destiny" :

They clearly know more than they're giving away in this interview. The worst thing they can do is reveal too much and leave little to discover and learn. It shows that they have faith in their game being able to tell you the story, rather than them pulling a Bungie and blatantly replying with "we don't know" or placing random pieces of lore on their websites and items in game which aren't supporting any objective or plot to captivate their target audience.

Destiny was and unfortunately still is a mess. Bungie literally sold the 2nd half of Destiny 1 as Destiny 2. All content in Destiny 2 was shown at Destiny 1's E3 reveal. It comes to no surprise that the devs had no clue of the purpose of most the lore or what it even meant. Please don't let it be an example of games to come, especially with a game like Anthem where the developers are very active with their community and don't shy away from daunting questions regarding their game. The last thing I want to see is a development team looking to revive a scarred, but promising genre crumble because people didn't give them a chance.

With that said, we won't know for sure if BioWare will deliver on the experience promised until release.

This is what happens when, in game development, you start of with what you want to “do” in your game (i.e., Destiny like, multiplayer, mechanics, etc.) and then retrofit a story into that gameplay instead of first having a story you want to tell and then having gameplay, world design, etc., flow from and complement that story.

I do not trust Mike Gamble or Kathline (I think her name is, the lead writer from Andromeda, now lead on Anthem), with Anthem.. since the Andromeda catastrophe.

The story just sounds like Andromeda's.. especially with the technology being left behind and they are all of a sudden turning on etc.. I just really don't know. Need to see more I think.

Say what you will, I think this story has potential. Love how the devs have been so open about showing the game as well. Looking forward to the demo.

The lack of proper game play footage is worrying.

"Anthem is framed in an unfinished world ..." - Get ready for the 60$ + barebones beta at launch, suckers.

Not exactly sold on anthem. We shall see. Waiting for the reviews.

I'm far from convinced. Destiny seemed like a much more interesting concept and look how that continually turns out - It hasn't got near to Bungie's original vision. And the interesting bits of Lore and universe building are often not properly realised.

This sounds relatively quite bland, and like the developers themselves aren't even too sure about the world they're building. I'm expecting little. They could pull it off, but it could completely flop just as easily.

I predict that the shapers will be built up as a very powerful mystic race....

Then, in the last few hours you'll find out that they were just elves...

3:32 - 3:45 So how Mike Gamble describes "the dominion" faction in this game is virtually identical how The Dominion from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is portrayed: "fascist-like, ruled by coercion and domination, in contrast to the cooperation and freedom of the Federation". Are we expecting to see Jem'Hadar, Vorta, and the Founders in the game too?

Cue the "environmental", tell your "own story" crap where there isnt actually any story.

If this game comes out in a broken state with a ton of little DLCs like Destiny, the whole “anthem is an unfinished world” will make some really juicy memes
