The BJP has called for a Bengal bandh on Wednesday after clashes between protesters and Kolkata Police during a ‘Nabanna Abhijan’ rally on August 27. West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar stated that the bandh became necessary in response to the "autocratic regime" of state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her Trinamool Congress (TMC) government of ignoring the public's demand for justice in the case. BJP chief JP president also slammed the police's alleged highhandedness in Kolkata in handling protesters who were agitating against the rape-murder of a trainee doctor, saying "in Didi's West Bengal, to help rapists and criminals is valued".

It’s true that Mamata Banerjee ever encourages antisocial activities n never try to stop any wrong behaviour towards the women.
