For those of you defending them or saying "Well you don't know if they are struggling, etc." That is usually the main reason for stealing, but it is in fact what the word says.. stealing. They are taking (stealing) someone else's belongings without their consent which obviously defines the word. Yes, maybe they are struggling, but it does not make it right to take anything that belonged to someone else. If you put yourself in that position, you would most likely react in a different way- I am sure you wouldn't just hand your phone over. People will probably respond saying, "Well I would at least help them, " and that is your choice, however, saying people are wrong and standing up for the people doing this saying they needed it so they should be fine doing it is just wrong in itself.

There is no excuse to steal not even if you are extremely poor or homeless. I grew up so poor to the point that sometimes we barely had any food in the kitchen or that school lunch was my only meal of the day. But not once did I ever steal anything. I learned to just deal if we couldn’t afford something and be grateful for what I have. And when I was old enough I got a job so I could earn my own money and get things I wanted.

Why does this remind me of two hungry foxes trying to steal some food, but being too slow to get it. Great teaching moment for everyone to be more aware of their surroundings and others behaviors. Hopefully this helps people avoid getting their items stolen

It’s not about them being poor and broke. They stole your phone and can possibly hack your phone and get access to your private account and next thing you know your AirTag that’s on your wallet starts ringing and bank account starts to get compromised. So yeah they are just in the wrong and should face consequences
