Dad is back home. I am over the moon.

So great to hear this positive update!! My 81 yr old Mom broke her hip. It is a life changing injury. After 5 days in hospital, 10 days in a rehab facility, then home. We set up home care and all the aids required. There are good days and bad days. It is a year ago this month and she is now walking unassisted! Praise GOD!❤

DANIELL, DAN! PLEASE READ THIS. Retired CNA here, years of caring for and assisting PT with post op hips, everyday in the hospital. Im in my element here. I hope and pray PT showed ya'll how to care for Eds hip so it DOSENT get dislocated, because it WILL if you arent careful! Crossing his legs, rolling to his side in bed without good firm pillows BETWEEN his legs. When hes up in the chair keep a firm pillow between his knees, secured maybe with velco straps. Bending too deep, like a chair or toilet thats too low or getting in/out of a low car. Keep his bed up high enough so he dosent bend too deep when getting out/in the bed. Also put the car seat all the way back for him.
I pray the nurse whos going to sit with him at night has experience in Orthopedics.
Home is the best place for Eds rehab. Theres just a lot more to it than I'm hearing Dan talk about. Rehab facilities arent staffed with enough people or with people trained to care for hips, or any other patients condition for that matter. Im so glad Ed has such a caring family, if others did the world would be a better place 😊Prayers for all of you.

I may be the minority here but I'm a 42 year old afghan vet who has caregivers. I have been watching your videos for a long time and thank you for what you do. Our elderly and our newborns should be treated the same. As precious meaningful and compassionate care as humanly possible. Thank you Dan for what you do and God bless from the great state of WV

Yay! He's Well done, everyone, for helping Grandpa get through this and back home to heal. My dad lived at home with my sister's care till he passed at 99. He broke his hip about 92 and he would not let on for three weeks.The pain must have been horrendous but he had a hip replacement and went on.We were lucky, Dad didnt have dementia but ageing alone is a big issue.So glad your Dad is home.Dan, you and Danielle are treasures for your Dad.
