Cant wait to watch later. I personally dont care about more fps, i want stable fps. The 1% lows and hitching and studdering is what really kills gaming for me. A solid 50+ with the vrr is what i really want.

Appreciate this video, especially the two tweaks regarding disabling Core Isolation and VMP. This actually solved an issue I was having with occasional stuttering in one of my games where no other tweaks had any effect.

This applies to every windows installation, but run Chris Titus’ tool. Generally improves performance, removes bloat, etc.

Reason why I'm buying this is because of Windows. I don't get it why some people make a big deal out of it. Just open steam? Play your game? I understand Steam deck is much more easier to navigate and console experience. I already have a PS5, I want a replacement for my pc. Handheld fits right to my alley.

The comments on windows are very harsh imo. I been using a pc for years and windows doesn’t bother me. This is my pc replacement for the most part so I like having the full computer experience. If I just wanted a gaming machine this guide would be more helpful to me unfortunately that isn’t the case. Maybe I’m a geek who just knows how to use windows? I agree they should make a mobile windows or front end mode for gaming, however I don’t think it’s that hard to use modern windows 11. Didn’t realize that many people had trouble using it

Everytime I see FH5 tests on the AllyX it’s pushing high FPS with stunning visuals.

Yet when I try and run Assetto Corsa with Pure custom shaders mod.. the Ally X can barely keep 25FPS and the graphics genuinely look like an early PS2 game

Do note that disabling VMP will bork your fingerprint sensor and Windows authentication. It's suggested to NOT disable it.

I don’t know or like understand why people treat windows 11 or windows in general like a demon, it’s literally not that big of a deal.

Older or emulated games would not need more than 8gB VRAM, so you may be right saying to leave it at that and change it on a per-game basis. But DO NOT ENABLE CPU BOOST! If it is anything like Turbo Boost on my 2019 gaming laptop, it would do more harm than good on a handheld PC.

CPU boost should be left on if you want to experience the full potential of the device, also it’s power friendly so it doesn’t consume the battery as some people making it sounds like.

New subscriber here. Thanks for the content man as ive been digging in to your recent videos. My ally x is on its way and to be delivered today. Your videos make the setup process and use for this system seem fluid so thanks in advance lol. I have a gaming pc with an asus tuf gaming motherboard and rtx 3080. I love it but I was looking for a system where I can game on the couch or in bed because honestly sitting at a desk is killing my back so to not be tethered to the chair is a rly attractive idea to me. Im stunned by what handheld gaming has evolved to and Im beyond excited to set up the ally and dig in!

Just got one. I noticed that with Falcom games the Command Center will hang. You can open and close it but when you try to turn anything on in the menu it will light up like normal when you tap it but it won't change anything. Then a minute later it will randomly do all the changes. So for example, I was trying out Trails of Cold Steel IV and wanted to change to 900p and switch back to gamepad mode and the buttons would light up when I tapped them but nothing would happen. Then I couldn't control anything in the game but a minute or two later it would register all the taps I did and end up back on desktop control mode lol. The game uses less than 10% of the CPU and 90-98% GPU. I haven't messed with it again since last night but I'm actually having more fun trying different games to see how well I can get them to run at higher settings than I am playing the games lol. The Falcom games are the only ones having this issue though. I would have thought they'd run better considering they're anime style games with 2009 or earlier graphics. Even the older ones have low fps even on lower settings. I can get them playable though. I'm gonna try increasing the VRAM later since I didn't know I could do that until now.
