An M.2 module is a specification for computer boards to connect connectors. Although the M.2 connector follows a standard of connections to connect, and the position in which the module must be connected, but always with a width of 22 millimeters. But the module can have several different lengths, normally with lengths of 30, 42, 60, 80 and 110 millimeters. The most traditional are 42 or 80 millimeters, and this value is indicated on the model, for example, the module with 42 millimeters in length is referred to as 2242.

An extension bracket for mounting an M2 2242 SSD allows you to install a small M.2 module in an M2 2280 slot, correctly using the screw. And to do this, simply mount the M.2 module on the extender and with this extender you can now place the screw at a length of 80 millimeters to install in an M.2 2280 slot, and hold the 42-millimeter module with a screw, ensuring it is installed correctly on the computer. For this demonstration I will use a Samsung M.2 module with size 2242, and the Lenovo extender AM21M000700 SIN0 2242 to 2280 M.2 SSD bracket, to extend it up to a size of 80 millimeters.
