woah @ 5:32 when cleaning a dryer vent with unit "on", make sure to use an "air only" setting without any heat! if you block the vent too much you can cause the "non-resettable" thermal fuse to open. it can happen pretty fast on some models! there I saved you and others unhappy customers, appliance service and more. 😁

Surprised, There was no discussion about cleaning the lint from inside the dryer itself? Once that area is checked and serviced the job is completed. I found my own interior drum wall vent blocked with lint! Man was I surprised. 😂

I have added an in-line vent screen to both of our places. Positioned them just over the top of the dryer. This allows us to control what gets through to the vent terminations.👍👍🇨🇦

Great job Mikey ! Every yr in the U.S. the number one cause of house fires is dirty & clogged dryer vents. Most people wouldn’t think a clothes dryer as a. Fire hazard. In actuality they are . I’ve seen the amount property damage they can cause. My dad was a firefighter yrs ago. All dryers must be vented to the outside especially ones that are GAS powered for a reason . You don’t want CO in your place . Another thing never use white plastic hose for ventilation or the foil . I heard it’s best to use a solid metal ones . Those are the best especially if there was ever a dryer fire the solid metal vent can contain the fire from spreading., most importantly keep the vent line clean especially around the dryer. One other thing I want to point out is . If you use dryer fabric softener sheets they can build up a hidden wax on the lint screen / Filter. I recommend washing the screen with warm soapy water. If the screen holds water & it’s not coming through then it needs to be washed. I keep mine in check . & where the filter goes I keep an eye on it & keep it clean

Would a neglected dryer duct be more prone to a fire with a gas dryer versus an electric one? I've stayed away from gas dryers thinking this was true.

Might have a condensation issue with the louvers removed…plus the ceramic hot surface igniter doesn’t like it cold…shortens their life…just my observations 🤷‍♂️
You need disposable Tyvec and dust masks for these jobs…just add it to the invoice 💰

That is a slick Vent brush. Can you give us more info? I have a brush head like that with three short rod sections that lock togethe, r but there is no outer sheath and it is not long enough to do my entire vent run. I have vent brush envy, a terrible thing!

I wonder if you could disconnect the dryer at the other end and hook up a large shop vac and suck the debris into the vac while brushing from the outside? Be a lot cleaner.

I was walking in my neighborhood and noticed a dryer that looked brand new . I knocked on the door and the woman told me I could have it but it wasn’t working that she had repeatedly had it repaired but it just breaking. I told that I thought it was the vent . She told me to take it . I stuck in my basement and and eventually started using it . After replacing all the sensors which to anyone reading this are so inexpensive like less than twenty for all of them.

I actually bought one of those, I tend to clean the thing out at least twice a year. Burnt out the heating element in the dryer because it was clogged years ago, haven't let it get bad since. We also got the screen removed on the outside vent, which was a chore as it goes out the roof.

Another way I've heard of people cleaning the dryer vent is using a leaf blower from inside and catching it with a trash bag outside having a friend holding it dont tape it on cuz kaboom or just let er rip but it's messy.

As someone that does this for a living, Lint trap is probably the worst invention. It is invented to prevent birds coming and nesting but the benefits stop right there. The lint trap can clog in about 6 months, way way before the actual vent has any accumulation.

I would throw that trap out so somebody can work safely from the inside instead of climbing 2nd story
