I have LONG been a fan, and a student, of Pink Floyd music. The ethereal sound and lyrical content just resonates in my mind and soul. Of course any bonafide member of my generation has likely taken numerous trips to “The Dark Side of The Moon”, with Floyd’s most popular and successful album, but their catalog contains so much more rich musical content, not the least of which is the album, “Wish You Were Here”. This record, released in September of 1975, contains a 9-part masterpiece entitled “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”, dedicated to PF co-founder, Syd Barrett, whom had left the band earlier due to ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues. The heartfelt tribute includes some of the most beautiful electric guitar by the always tasteful David Gilmour as well as some delicious baritone and tenor sax, played by Dick Parry, who also provided the tasty saxophone work on the Dark Side album.
Here’s my meager, short dose of “Shine On….” (Mercifully edited for brevity🙂)
