Pedigrees are graphical representations of ancestry with respect to one or more disease(s). Males are represented with a square while females are represented with a circle. The shape is black/filled in if the individual is affected by the disease. The shape is empty/white if the individual is not affected by the disease (may be unaffected or carrier). Usually each generation (row) is labeled with a roman numeral while each individual is labeled with a number.

Affect and Effect are not the same thing. Individuals are Affected by an inherited disease, not Effected. Affect = change, Effect = Result.

Good video, just one problem with your last table I think. You've put that 100% of daughters are affected if the Dad has an X-linked recessive disease; I thought that would only be the case if your mother was affected; if the mother was heterozygous with an affected Dad then it would be 50% chance that a daughter would be affected. Correct me if I'm wrong.

in the mitochondrial inheritance graph the 2nd generation of the females side the 3rd generation non was affected. dose it skip a generation?
