How to pronounce 'Jiaoqiu" so you don't butcher his name:
First, let's break the name down into 'Ji-ao-q-iu', and then work on how to pronounce each part separately.

'Ji': Pronounce it like how you would spell the letter G
'ao': Pronounce 'ow'
'q': Pronounce 'chi'
'iu': Pronounce 'yo'

Therefore, 'Jiaoqiu' can be pronounced as 'Jee-ow-chi-yo'.

Some people have said but with jiaoqiu, you have the jiao pretty much down except you don't need to say the i - it's like J in jump and ow (like when you hurt yourslef) together. but qiu is, q - like ch in cheese, and iu you say like oh (like when you've realised something).
