1965 MGB Roadster - FOR SALE

Original MGB Roadsters in black are rare, but they are even rarer in this impeccable condition.

To commemorate the end of each production year, MG produced one hundred cars in black, so only a mere one percent of cars are in this colour from the factory.

This particular matching numbers 1965 MGB Roadster with overdrive and pull-handles, is simply outstanding.

With a full photographic restoration back in 2000, and a complete engine rebuild in 2006, this car is a credit to its former owners and has only covered a mere 1,000 miles sInce. To say it’s been 'well looked-afte'r would be an understatement.

The high-gloss black paintwork is blemish and stonechip-free, with a deep shine. Still with the original aluminium bonnet fitted, the panels are incredibly straight and true with correct gaps. The chrome-work is an absolute treat. The interior is in great shape and largely original, featuring the original 1965 steering wheel and seats which show no signs of the usual sagging or scuffs.

Move to underneath of the car, and the chassis is also in lovely condition. The chrome wire wheels are corrosion-free with nearly-new tyres. The mohair hood was fitted 4 years ago and remains in as-new condition.

Open the bonnet and and you’ll be greeted by another treat. It’s an absolute eyeful in there.

Important to note, this is a 5-bearing engine and not the usual 3.

The engine rebuild included the block being rebored, over-size pistons, crank regrind and polish, new mains, big-ends and thrusts, new oil pump, timing chain and tensioners. The cylinder head was skimmed and fitted with new bronze valve guides, new valves, lead-free valve seats and springs, new camshaft and followers. The whole cooling system was replaced with new, along with the front cross member and steering box, and poly-bushes added.

On the move, the car behaves just as an MGB Roadster should. The gearbox selects smoothly and overdrive on 3rd and 4th works as intended.

It’s a fun car, that’s in amazing condition. One that promises its new owner many enjoyable memories, especially with the recently-fitted, raspy stainless steel exhaust.
