Second COVID-19 Vaccine Side Effects - Rougher Than I Expected

The expected side effects of the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine have been well publicized. I think I experienced everyone of them! For about 36hrs after my second dose I went through what I can only imagine what a mild to moderate case of COVID must be like. However, my side effects lasted much shorter than the real thing and I will not have any long lasting consequences that COVID itself can bring. I share my story to encourage everyone to get the vaccine. You may be miserable for a day or so, but it is much better than getting the real thing! The side effects are expected, manageable, and short lived. Worth every minute to not get COVID! I highly encourage you to get the vaccine when it's your turn.

Literally me right now. I woke up at 5AM with a heavy fever and I still feel like hell.
EDIT: It's 2 days later and the symptoms are gone. Tougher than expected but I'm glad it's done.

Currently going through my 2nd dose and this night has been terrible. I have fever, chills, soreness, and cannot sleep. I feel like when I try, my brains wants to sleep, but my body is keeping me awake. I can’t even remember if I got some sleep tonight..

Let's get real. They are not "side" effects, they are effects!. You should know it's waaayy to soon to say you don't have any long term consequences. Update us again in 6 mths, one year and 3 years

So what are your suggestions for those of us that feel that way most of the time. Those of us with chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia generally feel almost that way for days, weeks, and years., 24/7. So what is going to happen to us. Can't imagine even feeling worse than we already do now.

I am not a doctor and was actually a pretty poor science student, but my general instincts tell me that feeling like you are dying is not a “great sign that the vaccine is working”.

Right. And for elderly people this type of immune reaction you describe after the 2nd dose is going to be dangerous. Right?

It's the long-term effects that concern me, no one knows what problems might come to light with time. Even some arthritis medications have been withdrawn after a few years for example. It's not possible to know without trying and testing over time.

How do you think older-than-90-yr-olds with some health conditions will fare with side effects if a younger person such as yourself had a rough weekend? Asking for my 92-yr old relative.

Seventy year old woman in good health.
Moderna dose 1: sore arm ( couldn’t raise above shoulder height for a few days). Sore at injection site for about 3 weeks.
Moderna dose 2: flu like symptoms, ice pick headache on right side, tingling on tongue right side. Symptoms gone within 48 hours. It wasn’t pleasant but I feel very fortunate to have been able to receive the vaccine. Would do it again.

I'm still having issues after 2 weeks from the first Pfizer. Constant feeling drowsy and headaches, wish I never had it at now.
