A SHORT UPDATE - This weekend's walk didn't go to plan...

We had a last-minute idea to walk up Ben Nevis this weekend, but I wasn't feeling 100% and the heat/humidity took its toll an hour into the hike. Sorry I can't bring you a proper video today, but I'm editing something else just now which will be with you soon. All the best folks!

You’re a rescue volunteers dream. They carried on making bread, cakes, fishing, selling fish & chips, repairing cars, etc etc because you made the right decision and no bang flare was launched 👏🏼👍🏻

I have the utmost respect for you and your partner. You are both troopers. Love your videos of our beautiful country.

Good on you for recognizing when to call things off! Heat & humidity is a fierce opponent.

You surely did right and set a great example for everyone. Take care and know that one of the most likable and refreshing things about your travel is your honesty. Thanks for posting this one, and we’ll be looking forward to your next outing.

A failure would have been to carry on and get sick enough that you needed mountain rescue to come and get you.
I still loved the footage. Looking forward to your return here.

Hi Steve. I've just subscribed but have been watching your videos for a good few months now. From the first video I watched i was hooked. For me, especially during this pandemic, your videos are a blessing. You are so fortunate to have such amazing places to enjoy. Keep posting your videos, I enjoy your informative narrating too 😊 Matty from Liverpool.

Always best to err on the side of caution and not push things too far, smart move. Anyway, I did it many moons ago and have never felt the need to repeat, was quite dull. I can strongly recommend Steall falls and the obligatory visit to Corrour....Better luck next time :)

I abandoned Schiehallion about 10 years ago on a very hot day and that same day some soldiers died on an exercise due to heat exhaustion. Went and toured a distillery instead. Managed to do it finally a couple of months ago and the fact that I had failed before made the success even sweeter!

Right decision Steve! Not a failure, your body was telling you this wasn't right, good on you for not carrying on and not only putting yourself in danger but if needed the Mountain rescue team as well. take care.

So beautiful!
I just received a FB reminder that I was in Scotland five years ago. There were hikes that I just didn’t want to tackle, . Some days are like that.
What a gorgeous country. I’d wonder why my ancestors felt they had to leave but it was all economic. Sadly.

Good that you recognized when to stop and turn around. No shame at all in that Steve, just good common sense. Look forward to seeing you both do another walk, perhaps when there is much less humidity.

Keep smiling big man, it's all good. Ben Nevis last month was amazeballs, but it was an amazing week. Keep smiling, you are doing a great job. Cheers

Feeling unwell is never failing.
Your video’s are just marvellous. The visit to Island of Esdale was certainly such a surprise. We went to the village on the main land a few years ago as I had believed that they used the street for the village in the film ‘ Ring of Bright Water’ (!probably before your time)
Thank you for taking time to make such inspiring videos, even though being disabled I can’t take part in the majority I can walk them through your eyes.
Best wishes

Similar thing happened to us! We started scafells pike, got lost for a couple of hours, then the weather turned so we headed back down. Only managed about half the mountain, but its important to know when to to turn around!

As Clint Eastwood would say Steve, "a man's got to know his limitations"
Well done when knowing when to turn back.
Have a great week guys 😎

Lord knows we've all been there (more than once)! Some days are just like that. You still did 100% better than the people who sat on their couch all day lol. Although, that has it's benefit, too. It was still nice to see a bit of Scotland, even if only for 2 minutes.
