Ok, here are the big differences from the 03-05 VIII to the 06 IX that make it faster:

- Turbo (larger compressor cover helps it make more power at the same boost levels and same mods)
- MIVEC (allows for much earlier spoolup, earlier peak torque, and more mid-range power up to 6k rpm - much more area under the curve on the dyno)
- Coolant passages in the head (these allow for more timing to be used without knock, which means more power)

- Turbo (larger exhaust housing makes more power - 05s have this)
- Wastegate (improved wastegate flapper design)
- ACD (improved handling with 3 settings: Tarmac, Gravel, Snow)
- Front Limited Slip Differential (this allows for harder acceleration out of a turn with less spin)

Also Rally Red is one of the rarest and hardest colors to find.

Idk if I'd consider yellow as a favorite for this car. I agree that the electric blue is a favorite though. The yellow and red ones if properly taken care of (cheap clear coat) really do pop but I'd say white is the fan favorite. White ones normally go a few thousand dollars more than the other color.

I hate both, and I want to have both, evo already I have,

1) Evo 8s sure as hell aren't going for 15-20k anymore unless they're super high mileage or there's something blatantly wrong with em. 23-30k is a better estimate.

2) The FA24 on the VB WRX is a decent engine, with several examples pushing 500-600 hp on a stock block. 300-400 is relatively easy to attain without compromising reliability too much.

Yes the VB WRX is unaesthetic from the factory, but it actually looks good with paint matched fenders and rear bumper. Granted, it should come like this from the factory. The VA chassis on the other hand has a clean and pleasing aesthetic from the factory.

And there's no way in hell you can deny that an EL header EJ or modded FA20 sounds good with the right exhaust.

You might also wanna consider that it's much easier to DD the VA/VB WRX than the Evo. Mpg is better even after tuning (if one cares about that), and parts aren't becoming increasingly difficult to source. The Evo 8 is a 20+ y/o car at this point.
