First things first, it is worth noting that you need to get Java in order to run Minecraft mods and get the Forge mod loader installed on your Mac. You can find a complete guide on getting Java for Minecraft on your Mac in the description above.

With Java installed, it is time to download Forge for MacOS. You can find a link in the description above that will take you to our website. On our site, click the ‘Download Forge’ button to be taken to Forge’s official download page. Select the version of Forge you want to install on your Mac in the left-hand sidebar.

Keep in mind that you can only use Forge mods for that version of Minecraft, so make sure you select your version carefully.

With the version selected, click the ‘Installer’ button under download latest. Then, wait 10 seconds and click the red ‘Skip’ button in the top right to start downloading Forge.

Once it is downloaded, double-click on Forge. It will most likely fail to install on your Mac. Open up System Settings and navigate to the security tab. Scroll to the open and go through the steps to open Forge anyway. When you do, Forge should open on your Mac. If not, double-click the file you downloaded to open it.

Finally, click ‘Install Client’, and click ‘Okay’. When you do, Forge will install on your Mac!

Now that you have Forge, we can move on to how to download Minecraft mods for Mac in 2023. You can find download links to mods in the description above, but any mods for the version of Minecraft/Forge you installed will work.

To install these mods, open the Minecraft Launcher, click Installations, hover over the Forge installation, and click Play. Click Play again to confirm you are playing modded Minecraft on your Mac in 2023.

From the Minecraft main menu, click the on ‘Mods’. Then, click the ‘Open Mods Folder’ button. This will open your mods folder. To install Minecraft mods on MacOS, drag-and-drop the mods you downloaded into this folder.

At this point, all you need to do is restart Minecraft. Just make sure you play with your Forge profile. When you get back to the main menu, Minecraft for Mac will have mods installed!

hey everyone, something i learned: macs do not let you run older versions of forge. i wanted to run 1.16.5 to play a certain mod, and it was not compatible. apparently this has something to do with apple's technology and there is not anything developers can do as of right now. I hope I am wrong, but i've been looking for answers for a while now and i've had zero luck.

Hi! I've done everything right, the forge version open correctly on Minecraft, I've exported the mods in .jar in the folder mods, but they won't load. I've even tried with a random mod with the same version of Minecraft but nothing. Even optifine won't load, and I don't understand why!
