What Happened During the Battle of Chancellorsville is a presentation on the campaign from 27 April 1863 to 6 May 1863. We discuss General Hooker's Plan, initial movement, the failure of General Stoneman to accomplish his mission with the Union Cavalry Corps. We shall continue on to General Lee's actions where he seizes the initiative, Stonewall Jackson's brilliant flank march, and devastating attack against General Howard's Eleventh Corps. The battle hung in the balance, and with Hooker wounded and General Sedgewick moving sluggishly, any hope of Union victory was lost.

Please investigate what S. Sears writes in his book, 'Chancellorsville', about the actual location of Jackson's wounding. See his comments in the appendix of the book.

That bullet that hit the timber post turned him old in a split second. Do you know what Stoneman did to be in such a good song?

seems like the Federals maneuvered perfectly, but did not have the courage to actually close in and attack
