When did you start playing TF2?
*My personal story with TF2: I moved in to a new house in 2016, and got my family PC all to my self. I used to find pirated versions of TF2, as I thought it costed something ( It used to, but in 2011 it went F2P) . Used to play all by my self, hoping someone would join in ( kinda weird looking back at it ). Anyways, found out about steam, looked up TF2, watched the MvM trailer, and it said *Free to Play*. Got it instantly.
Used to make new accounts on Christmas to get free paints/items. My internet was $hit at the time, so I often played with bots, had a lot of fun trying out new stuff.
Good times...

I got TF2 as a birthday gift back in 2011. I remember waking up at 3 am to my mom and older brother trying to sneakily put a CD case under my pillow. When I looked underneath, I was grinning like an idiot because I was begging for a while to get either Team Fortress 2 or Left 4 Dead, and what do you know, they got me the Orange Box with some of the biggest FPS titles of that time! We weren't really the richest family around, but that night I felt like all the money in the world couldn't buy me the joy I was feeling, and I'm never forgetting that. I hope I can give my kids the same unforgettable happiness one day.

It's embarrassing to admit it, but I started playing tf2 in May 2023. Despite my measly 9 hours in this game, I already fell in love with it with all my heart. This atmosphere of team play, great characters, music, it's amazing!

2013, give or take a year. Just enough to see the game’s peak and watch it tumble to the ground.

I started back in middle school (around 2012-13), youtube was big and I stumbled across the “Meet The Team” videos. I downloaded it the day I learned it was free to play. Downloaded Steam and TF2 as my first game on there, and my life changed. I even remember getting into it right before Robotic Boogaloo Update. Made my group of friends download it too and we had the best years of our lives. I learned English and internet culture from TF2. This game, alongside Minecraft, was the start of my journey in gaming and even if it dies out, it will always be the best game ever to me and many others.

I started playing in 2001, with Team Fortress Classic, and watching our little sibling be treated so badly kinda makes me sad. I don't even play TF2 that much, but I still really don't want it to die out, killing the entire franchise with it.
Sadly however, it seems that the Team Fortress series won't be going out with a bang, but with a small, dimly lit flicker, waiting, hoping for someone to notice and light it again. But, no one ever will.
Let's hope it doesn't.
Much love from TFC!

I legit just started playing the game like 2 days ago..- I've known about it for years, but only now have I tried it/been able to play it. Really sad to see that I've missed the prime time of it and that it's not as popular as it once was. Everything about the game is just so cool! The characters, the gamemodes, the style, weapons, cosmetics, taunts, mechanics and more, man. I hope by me and a few friends, along with other old or new players out there continuing to play, we can keep the game alive and well :(

2013. It’s not shut down but I miss TF2. Constant Updates, no bots. It’s perhaps my favorite FPS of all time but now a days it’s a shell of its former self

Rip Rick May… you were there to raise me when mom and dad weren’t
I started playing in 2007, and even though I’ve had so many accounts get lost and I’ve made so many since then just so I could keep playing tf2, I will never forget the hours of entertainment, comfort, funny moments, ups and downs this game has brought me.

Honestly, I started playing last year, and I'm just sad that this game is dying, and I wish I found it sooner, back in the days when it was still alive.

2009, good times. Started playing in middle school, it helped me survive though rough high school, it was with me during all the years of university and now when I'm working I still find some time to boot it up. Without a doubt it is a game that changed my life, it influenced my hobbies, social life, helped me in hardest times. Thank you for all the memories, tf2.

I started in 2013 but was completely clueless for the whole year, pure newbie f2p energy, with the gibus and occasionally the pyro vision goggles, doing badly around the game, building sentries in 2fort for 2 hours straight, being so confused and clueless about the game, yet having genuine fun even while getting 1/10 kd, and being mystified by everything I didn't understand.
Then I got back in the game seriously at the start of 2017, became premium, and from there I progressively got less clueless (yet not much more skilled).
Even though I now have my dream inventory, I still hold on dearly to my original items of the time, especially the weapon that I bought in the Mann Co store, I may have a strange killstreak version of the rescue ranger now, but I'll still keep it there close to the gibus, pyro goggles and Mann Co cap for the great memories we shared all those years ago.

Man I've really missed a lot of the good stuff from Tf2.
I started around June 2021.
My friend suggested this for us to play. I was hesitant at first, but after a couple of weeks of playing, I've become Hooked to the game.
Shame I joined so late.

I just learned that I started playing 6 days after love and war released, and 8 years later it's still one of my favorite games of all time. Miss you tf2, I'll be back soon
