Do you know that when Truman (US Pres. then) and top officials were choosing where to drop Enola Gay's atomic bombs, in the list was Kyoto but the state secretary then said to REMOVE Kyoto because it was so beautiful full of cultural infrastructures and it was where he had his honeymoon. So it was removed while Hiroshima snd Nagasaki were pitifully bombed 😢

It also home to the most expensive cup of tea I ever had. Would I go there again? definitely. Would I buy that cup of tea again? absolutely I would. My advice is read up on the history of Kyoto before visiting, I feel you will get more out of your visit.

I believe Kyoto didn't suffer any bombing during WW2, firebombing or otherwise
