My great grandmother’s great grandmother once saw fairies riding the haggis!

How many times I’ve been told I’m daft when I’ve shared the plight of the haggis with others.
Keep fighting the good fight!
Brilliant video

I was wondering when David Attenborough would be sharing his knowledge on the haggis, highlighting its infinite diversity and fascinating lifestyle.

You may wonder how so many species of haggi have evolved in such a relatively small area, namely the Scottish Highlands. The reason, according to evolutionary theory is the mechanical and temporal isolation induced by their asymmetrical legs. Mating between a short left legged individual and short right legged individual is physically impossible! Not only this but the difficulty a haggis experiences in crossing level ground (heartbreakingly, they are often to be found wandering in circles if they stray from their heaf) means that the scope for the interbreeding of populations of haggi, even from neighbouring hillsides is very limited. Hence the rapid divergence of hyper local populations into separate species.

I'm so glad the H.W.F. is fighting the peril of scepticism and other plagues of the modern world. The Haggis will thrive in the rich, fertile ecosystem of myth and belief!

Mythical? I used to live in the Highland and it was a regular sound to hear the Moan of the Mull Haggis, which was also living on our part of the mainland. To actually see was was not so common, but such a little beauty.

Wonderful filming with the hidden cameras. The best I have seen yet. How long did it take to video all of them?

So pleased to see concerned efforts to protect the wild haggis are carrying on ward. We in the Pacific Northwest of the USA are endeavoring to obtain protected status for the exceedingly rare Tree Octopus.

Little known fact...at the time of the Spanish Armada, a galleon which was blown around the north of Scotland by the great storm put in port for supplies at Inverness. The Captain, an Andalusian nobleman, bought some live haggis as part of the general supplies for the voyage home....When they returned to Malaga, a live breeding pair were left. He released them on his estate in the Alpujjara...to this day they are a prized ingredient in expensive chorizo...I believe the Spanish revolutionary poet Lorca even mused upon them...They are known locally as el jaggiso...of course a j is pronounced as h in Spanish...I should also add that the haggis is celebrated every July in the white village of Canar, half way up the southern slopes of Sierra Nevada with "Fiesta el Jaggiso" the Haggis feast.

This was hysterical and I know it must be true. I haven’t ever seen one, but I haven’t seen a Black Hole either, and they exist. Thank you.
