A friend has a new noise coming from under the hood. I think I recognize the sound, but I will use my power probe to quickly confirm it before we go get the parts from the junk yard and make the repair.

Good video Tom. Yes, I have seen Scanner Danner do that as a way to know that you are not going to harm the engine computer. Just try to energize the relay with a test light by energizing the control side of the relay with the test light while the relay is mostly plugged in. Great job of demonstrating the safe way to do it.

This was an excellent video Tom. It was well explained and yes, why not use the best tool at your disposal. Eric is a class act for sure.

Thanks for the great video it helped on how the probe can help also on how you can fry the different components. You and only one other person has showed that you can actually try other components.

Manufacturers love this tool. It helps them sell ECUs.
I like the method of providing ground though. I'm not a big fan of forcing voltage into circuits, except in special cases.

Another great video Tom. I may have a compressor (2001 Olds) to replace in my future so I'll be looking forward to the video about that. Thanks.

The PCM isn't going to ground that AC relay unless it sees the AC request signal So even if you send power to the ground side of the control part of the relay nothing will happen. If it is not grounded Then there is 12 volts present all the way to the PCM. Just look at the wiring diagram and send power to the right pin.

wouldnt you have 12 volts at the pcm on the control wire for the relay until the pcm grounds it?

Looks like the power probe is in good hands (I was gonna type PP is in good hands but that would be weird).
Gonna change the AC clutch or just use a shorter belt and skip the AC pulley?

BruceLyeg

Great video. Would this be safe to do, if the ac was working?

But anyone could tell it was the clutch just by listening to, or at most mechanics should know!!
