I just learned that last line about making espresso was ad-libbed. It faded to black so quickly because the crew broke into laughter & Gene Hackman couldn’t keep a straight face when they asked him to say it again so they stuck with the quick fade-out.

I worked with a guy who is a big GH fan, his favorite movie is Unforgiven, after he saw this movie he didn't know that was Gene?....Watching it again how can you not see it's Gene! 😅

I worked with Gene Hackman while shooting the bonus material for the rerelease of the french connection in 2001. He was a wonderful man and just so unassuming. One of my fondest memories.
