Beethoven's Fourth doesn't get enough love. I guess being stuck between the monumental Third and Fifth contributes to that, but this symphony is still an incredible work.

This may not be the most famous Beethoven symphony, but the opening Adagio is perhaps one of the most beautiful openings in the whole musical canon.

The slow introduction to the first movement is almost a movement in itself, like that of the Seventh Symphony. Such intros were rare in the classical period and indicate the new direction Beethoven was forging

En la introducción prevalecen cocheas de dos en dos, con partes ligadas más melódicas. El allegro enfatiza de cuatro notas en cuatro. En el segundo movimiento una dulce melodía es atrapada por notas de dominante y tónica. Luego el clarinete lleva la parte melódica. En el tercer moviento la melodía es alzada cual manteo. En el trío las maderas dulcifican a las maderas. El cuarto movimiento es muy movido y a ratos emplea una disonancia muy osada para el momento que fue compuesta.
