Fun fact, the movie's development began all the way back in 2015, and writers had to rewrite the script at least 6 times because of change in directors or producers. This probably ties into why the movie is all over the place.

when fans or a small group make a movie it usually ends up being amazing but when a company makes a movie it usually ends up being awful

It's a shit movie with a 10/10 social expirience. I went to it with friends (all wearing elegant shirts and smoking of course) and the expirience was amazing, but only because, as the trailers said, we turned off our brain and didn't take it seriously at all. The corporate sucked all actual life from it that minecraft originally had and gave us a few nonsensical haha memes (chicken jockey)

I am getting so sick of people defending this trash.

It's so obviously trying to be a 'so bad it's good' movie that sells itself solely on memes from the trailer.

This is Minecraft we're talking about. A game where you create your own story. There are literally endless possibilities for a fun, exciting fantasy movie that appeals to both kids and adults.

And yet, they went down the most corperate, unoriginal route possible. Such a waste.

It just gives the vibe of boomer movie execs had some unpaid interns poorly explain to them what minecraft was and then they thought a lot of it was stupid and did their own "reimagining" like it only feels tangentially related to minecraft, like those medieval paintings of elephants or rhinos from europeans who clearly have only had the animal vaguely explained to them and had to fill in the blanks

I went to see it yesterday and our theater was so lame and it was only me and these 2 kids next to me joking about the movie.

there's a behind the scenes interview when they straight up say that the reason it's called A Minecraft Movie, and not The Minecraft Movie is because they decided to just take the IP, and make there own thing with it which is just an insulting mentality that seemingly every one making video games movies have except for the Sonic, and Mario movies, and yet they wonder why those are the only successful ones.

A Minecraft Movie if it was good:
A dark and gritty story about newcommers waking up in a hellscape and being hunted down one by one, incomprehensible machines create chaos from above, it takes someone all their strength to kill a powerfull three headed demon only to realise that 50 others are aproaching quickly.
Terrorist attacks occour on a daily basis and whatever shelter the protagonists try to build gets quickly found and desgroyed.
