It doesn't help that half of the cast look like they're wearing badly fitting wigs.

Honestly, we already have The Office with a woman ahead of it, it's Parks and Recreation.

What is crazy to me as an Australian is we already had excellent "office satire" in shows like "The Games" and "Utopia"m we don't need a bad copy of The Office.

I am Australian.
I watched the first episode, the second it was said one of the workers was an "unpaid intern" I knew it was being mad to appeal to an American audience.
Unpaid interns are not a thing here and in fact are illegal.

It’s already been said, but it cannot be stressed enough that Utopia made an Australian version of The Office unnecessary and not worth making YEARS ago. Utopia combined elements of both versions of The Office with some of the dryness and political commentary of The Thick Of It but all catered specifically to an Australian audience and dealing with current events and topics.

One thing that doesn't help the show is that the colour grading is too cinematic, there is also high contrast between light and dark. The clothing and set decoration has definitely been artifically distressed, but to a level where it is overly drab and feels a little too far. Comedy works better without distraction and a flat natural base. I appreciate shows putting in effort, but in a comedy it's in an area that does not help.

Australia already has its own version of The Office and didn’t need to make this garbage. That show is called Utopia and is brilliant.

This is cringe, and not good ol' Office cringe.

I heard someone comment that it's obviously using the same main characters - like David/Michael/Hannah, Gareth/Dwight/Lizzie, etc - but it's like the show expects you to have watched the previous versions and know exactly who they're meant to be. And with that, they don't put any effort into actually developing the characters beyond "Ahh, Nick is doing Jim-like things!", but without any of the established character work that actually makes that enjoyable to watch

Comedy is often like boiling a frog, you can't start out too extreme or no one will laugh. It's like Jim putting a coin in Dwight's phone every day until he takes them all out and Dwight punches himself in the face due to the phone suddenly being so light.

It's almost as if this show was written by people who have never actually worked in an office before

pretty wild that they're still churning out remakes of The Office more than 20 years after the original. Shows both the incredible strength of The Original, and the weakness of the Modern Day Writer's Room(s)

They have to remake it in Australia because they speak Australian not English. Common sense really

This remake is at least a decade too late.

Did they even bother to cater to Australian humor? Or is this just what we in the gaming world not exclusively call "milking the brand name"?

As an Aussie I asked why we were doing this. Its embarrassing

I am forewarned: thanks. :)

The manager bothers me: she's channelling Ellen DeGeneres.

It's not who develops the show: it's the team of writers. Clearly they were lacking.

It's funny how in the original show Brent would act like actual funny comedians to try and get a laugh. This was done deliberately to create cringe humour at the characters expense. This Australian Office is David Brent. The main actors are trying to act like actual funny actors/characters from the previous Offices even though they don't have the talent. The two lead actresses playing the Michael and Dwight characters in particular. The typical lack of awareness modern media seems to have.

Why does everyone in this show look like a homeless person or an alien wearing human skin
