Alabama vs. UGA has quickly become a rivalry in the SEC with Kirby Smart in Athens trying to take down his former boss and get the Bulldogs to the place where the Crimson Tide have been hanging out for over a decade, and this Saturday we once again see them do battle in the SEC Championship Game. On Late Kick Live Ep 210 Josh Pate broke down the matchup and offered his preview and prediction on what looks to be the best shot UGA has had to take down Alabama en route to possibly winning a national championship. How do the Bulldogs matchup with a Bama team that has had a very difficult time running the ball? Will Stetson Bennett and the UGA offense be able to do enough to put the Tide away? How will Bryce Young and his group of WRs fare against the best defense in the country? How do you see Alabama vs UGA in the SEC Championship Game working out? Man, this anticipation is KILLIN' me! Don't want to be cocky (bc anything can happen), but it just feels like UGA's year, even with an ok QB. B Young has 40 TD passes, cuz he's HAD to throw the ball. GA hasn't had to as much with a decent run game, so there's that. This commentary is the best I've seen on the upcoming game. The Braves broke the curse; Jimbo broke the curse; Dawgs gonna break our own curse Saturday! Go you hairy DAWGS!!

As a lifelong Alabama fan, I gotta admit, it's kind of nice being the underdog for a change. I like having everyone doubt Bama. I like having everything to win and nothing to lose. I like the fact that Bama has an 11-1 regular season record and everyone thinks it's doom and gloom in Tuscaloosa. Hey, if Bama loses then they'll play in a major bowl game with a 11-2 record. Great season! If they pull out the upset, it's just more tears to bathe in and an opportunity to play for ANOTHER natty! I'm not joking when I say I'm enjoying this. It's hard to explain but being a fan of a team that has had that kind of a target on their back for so many years takes it's toll on you. There comes a point when you don't enjoy the games the same way you used to.

Obviously everyone in the SEC is after Bama each year and Georgia REALLY wants them. I believe that they have been getting ready for Bama since last year and this is as ready as as they will ever be.

Bama's best weapon in this game is the element of surprise: even WE don't know which Bama will show up Saturday.

For the last 7 or 8 years, every time I would watch Alabama play, I could see how they good they were. I could see how and why they would beat any other team. It was methodical. A guaranteed formula. This year I see that far more in Georgia. That's all I'll say.

Alabama needs to start the game running two minute offense

What needs to be concerning for Bama is that offensive line, they gave up 6 sacks in the first half to Aub, and the entire country knows the pressure UGA brings with their front 7. UGA defense is far more dominate than Aub's, so that raises the question, if they couldn't protect Young better than that against Aub, what logic suggests they will be able to against the number one defense? Also if Robinson is not able to play Saturday, that makes Bama fairly one dimensional seeing where that would leave them with only one quality running back who is healthy. Also Bama and UGA have had a lot of shared opponents this year, and while past games don't determine the outcome of this game it is impossible to overlook how each team preformed in those games. One team barely struggled past Florida, Auburn, and Arkansas, while the other obliterated all three with a combined score of 108-17.
Another thing thats hard to overlook is Bama is playing sloppy this year, they commit a lot of penalties giving up a ton in unnecessary yardage. If Bama can't keep the laundry off the field against UGA they will fall behind very quickly. People can say what they want about UGA's schedule, but one they they cannot criticize is that Kirby's team discipline to not commit penalties. (56 total for an average of 37 penalty yards per game). Meanwhile Bama is doubling the penalties UGA is.
Last week against GT is proof of how disciplined my Dawgs are playing, not a single penalty against UGA the entire game.
Further more something has just felt off with Bama and their cohesion this year, while yes they are still an absolute powerhouse in college football, they feel like a 2017 UGA to me. All the talent in the world, but not playing as a cohesive team. Meanwhile Kirby has UGA just play out of their minds like a singular minded machine. It's like UGA and Bama flipped scripts this season. And while I have nothing but respect for Coach Saban and Bama, this just feels like the Dawgs year.
And because of everything listed above I have the Dawgs going over the Tide
31-13

This game makes me think of the 2009 SECCG too but for a different reason. Going into that game I remember everyone saying that Alabama had no shot. Florida was clearly the best team and Alabama had just struggled the week before with a not great Auburn team with a first year head coach. Alabama went on to dominate Florida. I don't think that will happen at all on Saturday, but this does have a similar feel to me.

As an Alabama fan, this is one of those games where I won't feel devastated if we do lose. Still hoping we can still pull it off though. Repeats aren't easy, especially what we lost from last year's team. Still only a 1 loss regular season.

UGA fan here. Been waiting for this all year! Almost there. Don't let up!! I know a lot of people haven't been impressed with Alabama, but they're gonna come out firing and we will need to bring our A game. I have no doubt that Kirby and Co are dialed in, but when you go against Saban, it's a tough challenge. I'm expecting a really close game. Hope we can finally get over the hump. Go Dawgs!!

The worst Bama o-line since 2006 against the best college defense in ten years, even Saban won’t be shocked if this gets ugly.

What makes Georgia's defense so good and so dominant look at the games where they've let one or two plays get by them and then watch the next set of downs in the one after that look at the improvement over those same kind of place you might get something by on once but you'll never get that same thing by them again

THANK YOU for pointing out that Bama is getting credit just for being Bama. Every time I watch a breakdown of this game, all people can do is point out advantages in UGAs favor but UGA better watch out because "Bama is Bama".
UGA rolls. Go Dawgs!

So, JP, when you said several weeks ago that Georgia would never win with Stetson Bennett……you weren’t wrong.

First time I can say this as a UGA fan, but the team is REALLY locked in. They take the week by week approach when playing any opponent.

I am shocked no-one has called out one of Georgia's biggest advantages-Depth on defense. If Georgia gets the expected three and outs then the Alabama defense will get tired and our run game will salt away the victory.
