To answer why the graves are about 15 inches deep: it could be they save the rest of the digging after the wedding, as it's supposed to be a stair step deep for the sanctumonious ceremony. A way of saying "We shall stand on equal ground; both in level of our bond and dedication to our bond until death is ready for us." But there might be other interpretations.

Minus what the pastor says, I really do think it would be extremely powerful to have your wedding in your own graves side by side. REALLY nails home that (at least on paper) this is the person you will be with til death. That stuff the guy said about "death being your only escape" shouldn't be a part of it obviously

My husband & I actually did get married in a cemetery (on St Patrick's Day) . He had lost his mom a few months before. Her biggest wish was for us to get married & she passed suddenly. So we held a intimate service next to her grave. Only myself & husband our witness & Justice of the Peace.

The graves are shallow so that they can actually stand in them without falling because it'd be over 6 ft deep
