As recommended by the book, “Prescription for Nutritional Healing, ” Korean red ginseng should be taken for 15 to 20 days, followed by a rest period of two weeks.

Nervines are for anxiety, adaptogens are for energy levels and hormone balancing. The terms are commonly conflated to mean the same thing. Trained herbalists know that anxiety does not indicate adaptogens, but instead nervines. Nervines are what needs to be talked about more and brought to public awareness. Many adaptogens also have nervine effects which makes the differentiation even more confusing. Ginseng is more of a stimulant in comparison to rhodiola and ashwagandha which are more so nervine sedatives - which makes them good for anxiety. The term sedative in herbalism is a much different effect than a sedative in pharmaceutical terms which may incapacitate you. Adaptogens are more for endurance and hormone issues while nervines are for anxiety.

I am 70. For me, I actually have energy to do things outside in the yard after taking it. My blood pressure use to be 165/135. It is now 128/88. Of coarse I am still taking medicine prescriptions by my doctor. But used as a tea, I am able to get myself up and to things. Without it, I am just staying in my room cooling off wishing I would do something. It is said by an oriental friend that ginseng is only used by older people because it looses it effect if you take it while young. I think I am old enough to use it. LOL!

I added boron and ginseng to my supliments and I've been having severe mood swings. I am under unusual work stress and life stress, also my mood issues caused me even more problems. . Anger to depression and then anxiety. I've taken it while I was in a good place and had no problems. Energy boosting anything is bad if you are in a bad mindset. Energy is good if you are in a good minded. Energy feeds off of whatever it has. That's why I'd recommend running and workouts for anxiety, anger and depression.

Korean red ginseng gave me a crazy heart racing this morning but it passed. Unfortunately, it doesn’t suit me because of my chronic anxiety. 😥

the thing with ginseng is that there is a big level in quality and amount of ginsenoside, like all plants. I live in Korea, the more expensive ones are better in quality and have less side effects

I love the taste of panax ginsing extract powder!... I let it dissolve under the tongue. I love the stimulants so I took a liking to ginsing since going the natural route.

I like ginseng but i did a lot of experiments to find the combo i liked.
Basically 1 capsule panamax then add more ginseng leaf extract or gs14 as needed. I respond well to stimulants though

It's unrivalled for fear extinction behavior in PTSD/CPTSD and trauma due to Ginsenoside Rg1. If you want something generally more stimmy, saliroside focused rhodiola is a better bet obviously.

Ginseng is amazing for cardiovascular exercise. I’ll take some before a run or bike ride and my stamina is crazy high. Normally I’ll run 2-3 miles, but on ginseng I’ll easily run 7-10 miles and even then I have to force myself to stop because Im hardly tired. Never thought of using it as a nootropic though.

i've just taken a tincture for adrenal energy and it has 300mg panax ginseng, and rhodiola (a.o) and i am tired!!! I wonder if thats caused by my adrenals getting a too high a boost or something, i don't know, but it's the reason i checked this video out. If anyone has any idea please hollar :-)

Back in the day I would smoke ginseng cigarettes, cannonballing with holding my breath inhaling the smoke. Probably not the smartest activity but after 30 seconds holding the smoke in my lungs it was like getting a dose of adrenaline and it made the back of my eyeballs sparkle lol. The concentrated liquid vials with royal jelly packed their own punch stronger than the powdered form as I recall. Anyway that was decades ago there are a lot more options out there now.
Nevertheless I'm going to try a milder form of ginseng again to see what it does for energy levels for work. Thanks for your video!

If you take the ginseng pill or supplement once a day, does it affect your appetite?

I have used ashwaganda many times in my life, it helped with daily average stress. Last year I was properly burnt out from uni/work and got severe side effects from it (heart palpitations, insomnia, extreme feelings of being overwhelmed, symptoms stop a couple days after I stopped taking it. Anyway, I would be very careful with any herbs.
