Arctic Freezer 33:
Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED:

This is a review I should have done a long time ago!

The Arctic Freezer 33 has been totally off my radar for some reason?

I have used Arctic Cooling products since 2002 or somewhere around there. I have fond memories of the Alpine range and the first Freezer I owned - the Freezer 64. What a magical experience that was!

Fast forward to 2018 and the magic looks like it might be happening again!

The Freezer 33 is more of an update than a brand new product and brings a lot of its style and cooling ability from the i32..

Here we have a contender for BEST AIR COOLER for this generation at this price point.

Other top coolers in this category:
HYPER 212 LED
GAMMAXX 400
HYPER 212X
ARCTIC Freezer 34 ESPORTS duo

The Arctic Freezer 33 actually really surprised me with the small box and minimal packaging, but inside, wow what a great looking tower cooler!

With the huge 120mm Arctic PWM PST fan and the well crafted finned design this thing looks the part. But will it do well in the noise and cooling stakes? Well to answer that yes and yes!

SIlent in general use and even under a tough Prime 95 load it still was quieter than my surrounding chassis fans.

And just the icing on the cake, the Arctic Freezer 33 was actually better at keeping the Ryzen 3 2200G 4 degrees cooler than the Hyper 212 LED.

I totally have fallen for this Cooler and it will be making many more appearances on the channel.

I am going to take another look at Arctic and see what else I have been missing out on?

Very well made review, i still can't decide which cooler get, i'm between the Artic Frezer 33, the Deep Cool Gamaxx 400 and the CM MasterAir MA410P, which would you recommend if all of them have the same value, around 42 USD or 32 GBP

Having watched several of your air cooler reviews I decided to replace my Arctic Freezer radiator with a Deep Cool Gammamax 400. When playing
Snowrunner the cpu temp is around 47c, which amazing and all for £17 from Amazon cheers Mike

Nice comparison. Iv always liked the Arctic coolers, I still have my Arctic Freezer 7 Pro in its the box, it was in my system for over 7 years with no issues, only reason I changed is because I bought a Cooler Master H100i AIO cooler

Thanks for the helpful review, Mike. I favour getting a semi-passive, to reduce noise for work.

Nice video. I have the 3600 and I can’t decide between gammax 400 and artic 33 probably I would go for the small one because my ram sticks are very close to the cpu fan . I also saw the esport one edition What do u recommend ?

Mike
Have you compared (or measured) the contact area of both heatsinks?
I like the mounting position of the Arctic Cooler (and the included AM4 mounting hardware) but the contact area looks like its much smaller than the Ryzen CPU where all the cores (if using a 6 core and up) may not come in contact.

Nice video. I would note my Ryzen 2600x always shows a relatively high Tdie temperature (guess the XFR is maxing performace/power/temps) while CPU temp readout from motherboard is relatively low. Using "old" HyperTX3 after 5 minutes of Aida64 stress test Tdie goes to 77-86 degrees (keeps peaking and coming down to 77 in a circle) while CPU motherboard sensor stabilizes around 65-66 degrees.

I used to have the dual fan Plus model of this in my old i7 2600k build. Recently reused it in my son's Ryzen 5 1600af machine. He doesn't like it because it is so much more quiet (ie too quiet) than his old Cooler master! I guess you never can win, huh?

Man, so I'm either gonna get an R3 3300x or an R5 3600. I'm split between 212 LED, Freezer 33, and Gammaxx 400. I want to take advantage of the 4.2+ GHz that these chips have to offer. I only care about Performance and not about RGB or Noise. What are your suggestions?

Hello Mike, great review. I’m looking on amazon and they are currently displaying about 4! Versions of artic 33
esport one £32
esport one push pull £43
Semi passive £32
Semi passive plus £30 (sale))
Bit confused which one to go for and which is latest version
Thanks for any help
( Do the 2 fans versions make much difference)

I think that anyone that installs their own Ryzen cpu cooler is going to know how to turn a screw! But thanks for your tip anyway at 6:54 LOL

Also there's not enough close-up shots in this video. You're a handsome bloke but we need to see more detail.

omg *WAY* *TOO* *MUCH* thermal paste!

Hi! I finally found a decent review of this cooler. I've got a question though, as Im interested in buying one in a few days I wonder how much of an improvement, or in this case, temp reduction will it be compared to the Ryzen 5 2600x Wraith Spire cooler? Because at the moment I'm getting like 80-85C MAX Temps at stock settings while gaming (im not really pushing the hardware as I play in most games on mid setting just to hit the 100-120 fps mark) and the cpu is pretty much straight out of the box as its up and running for like a week now :/

Cooler Master Turbo is better than Artic?

Great review. Curious if this would still be suitable for Ryzen 1800X? I can get one for a great deal, but if I have to spend more than this on a cpu cooler, with current pricing around here it starts to make more sense to just save a bit more on and get newer 2700 with Wraith Spire included instead. Thanks.
