While it is important to note that Sam does NOT know how Boromir actually died (he wasn’t there when he died protecting Merry and Pippin), he does know that Boromir tried to take the ring from Frodo by force, not really caring if he killed in the process.

Boromir was a good man, showing that even the BRAVEST and best of men can be corrupted. Faramir was shocked and heartbroken, but also knew that if good Borormir could be corrupted, his father wouldn’t stand a chance.

It's a shame Sean Astin didn't win a single oscar with his acting here. Peter Jackson himself said that was the only regret he had with LOTR. That Sean didnt win a oscar.

The sheer anger in Sam's voice is the icing on the cake for this scene.

Idc if i'm in the monority. But I actually think both Boromir and Faramir are great characters. It pisses me off people cite how Boromir was tempted by the ring, forgetting that Galadriel herself a powerful elf was also tempted by the ring when Frodo offered her to take it. So if SHE can be tempted by its' power then it's possible anyone else could be.

"The ring drove your brother mad!"
Ooh full body shivers.

I like how hearing that the ring was able to turn his pure-hearted and honorable brother into a betraying psycho drove home the point to Faramir of how dangerous and untamable the ring is.

This might be my favorite scene in the entire trilogy. "An absolute softy going HARD for the purest of reasons. !"

In the books he doesn't even considers to take the ring. Sam is also the one who unwittingly admits that they carry it.

I wish we could have seen Osgiliath before it was destroyed.

A huge change from the books, Faramir knew better.

I think this was more of a warning to/about Denethor than to/about Faramir. Faramir already had no intention to use or even touch the Ring, but in this version he wanted his father to have it; Denethor is (or at least WAS) a great man in his eyes, and could probably find some way to handle it... but no, Boromir (a far-greater man than Denethor) lost it just from proximity, so Denethor didn't have a chance. Faramir thus chooses not to bring the Ring to his father, not wanting him to get any madder.

I'm glad Sam came along with Frodo! With the burden Frodo had to carry all this time, Sam was always there for him to speak for him when Frodo did not have the energy to get it together.

Sam’s right about the ring, because it belongs to Sauron, well men are weak people that’s why Boromir was driven insane by the ring’s corruption. There’s another thing, Denethor behaved violently irrational and insane by despair and the tragic death of Boromir. Becoming paranoid and delusional will lead people to be in a dangerous act of madness. Sauron’s ring can corrupt anyone who desires it and will turn them against others. That happened to Isildur, Gollum, nearly Bilbo, and Boromir. I don’t blame Isildur, Bilbo and Boromir for being corrupted by the ring, I blame Sauron, because he’s dangerously cunning, cruel and heartless and he was responsible for all the corruption in Middle-earth. That’s why Sauron’s ring must be destroyed in Mount Doom where it was made.

Sad thing is Sam doesn't know what Boromir did that actually killed him but he was right about everything else.

This was one of the only problems I had with the movies. I could forgive them for not mentioning Tom Bombadil, though I think they could have left him in, but they should have left the character of Faramir as he was in the book.

Faramir KNEW what the Ring was, and what it did to Isildur.
He knew full well why it was called "Isildur's Bane"

He was Gandalf's student, and did not need to be told why the Ring should not go to Minas Tirith.

And the story lost something when they omitted Farmir describing how he heard Boromir blowing the horn, and how he saw his brother's body in the boat near the falls.
