Deni Avdija is best as a point forward. he played PG at high-school. they've changed his role from SF to point forward after the TDL and his numbers went to 20ppg 6apg 8rpg at that part of the season. ending with 15 6 4 the all season. True shooting 60%.

Wizards fan - I love Deni, creative, tough - incredible defense - guarded PF + PG. Incomplete description of trade, here it is: Deni Avdija to Blazers for Malcolm Brogdon, the No. 14 overall pick, the second-most favorable of their three 2029 first-round picks (originally their own, Boston's and Milwaukee's) + two second-round picks." Funny guy. Win for both franchises.

It makes absolutely no sense to trade Ayton right now. He has two years left on his contract through the 2025-26 season which is the right amount of time to figure out what they have with Ayton & Clingan and how to proceed.

Hopefully the blazers use his playmaking because he is very good at it and can take the load off scoot and sharp

Best case scenario this year....

Clingan is clearly the COTF, but splits time with Ayton and we trade Ayton for assets in the offseason.
Avdija is an answer on the wing and a point of attack defender we've not had for years.
Sharpe stays healthy and takes that next step as a consistent 20/5/5 guy that shows above-average D.
Scoot shows the end to the season wasn't a fluke, improves his 3, and comes out as a 15/5/10 facilitator, freeing us up to trade Ant at the deadline.

Out for the future: Grant/Ant/Ayton, adding additional ammo to build in the future, as well as Billups, who's a horrible coach.

Those 4 (Clingan/Avdija/Sharpe/Scoot) are clear pieces of the future, but the team still struggles enough to be a bottom 3-5 record, and win the lottery, taking Cooper Flagg, who will eventually be the best player on the team.

Scoot
Sharpe
Avdija
Flagg
Clingan

That's a starting 5 that could be dangerous as early as 2026.

I think it would have still been a good trade if we gave up #7 instead of #14. It's obviously much better since we got Clingan as well but the type of player Deni is is rare in the NBA, especially considered his contract and age. I'm excited to see how much better defense will be with Scoot, Sharpe, Camara, Deni, Clingan on the court at the same time. Offense will be much more well rounded and versatile as well.

Pissed off Wizards fan... but congrats to the Blazers. Avdija ain't the guy to get you to the promised land, and probably won't ever be an All-Star (although he's done nothing but get better every year, so who knows?), but even if he never gets better than he was last year, he's a solid two-way player - a starter on a contender.

Grant is delaying Sharpe’s development as he is the focal point of the offense. That alone is a reason for him to go

The first rule in a good trade is don't be desperate. I don't think It's urgent to trade Grant or Ayton in this summer. Deni is used to play with dominant forward like Kuzma, so he can play with Grant. Clingan probably can't play more the 20 minutes in his first season (he used to play 17 minutes last season in much more friendly schedule and pace then the NBA). There is a time to find the best offer. Simons probably will be traded soon. I think Blazers are might be ready to the playoff in 25-26 season.

I doubt they trade Ayton, at least not until Clingon gets some experience.

This is so common sensical 👍 you have to assume this is the rough plan for the organisation. I’d be very disappointed if they don’t at least aim to cash in on grant and ayton for a full rebuild.

They’re getting ready for Cooper Flagg.

Hold onto Grant until the trade deadline… see how the roster shapes out to start the season and go from there. If Grant is healthy and doing his thing, his value will increase massively by the deadline 💯

deni abdjia can play in role 4 because he is tall but he is more guard than power forward

Clogging the middle can be mitigated with ball and player movement. Centering on a three offense requires consistently high 3-%, which is over rated. Players with high 3-% don’t acquire it consistently either, they’ll have a 60% night, then a 25% or less night. It’s a chaotic way to run a consistent offense. Live by the three, die by the three.

Really well thought-out and realistic analysis. I appreciate the non-hot takes perspective. Let’s sell high on Jerami and invest in Donavan!

Poll: A) Will we be watching the Blazer's tank? B) Find ourselves pleasantly surprised as the Blazer compete for the Play-In?

I sincerely believe that Deni will help the Portland blazer to elevate to a better wins future game to came. only if the team with Deni, can make this a viable option.
