How To Remove Background in Affinity Photo - Selection Brush Tool

In this tutorial we'll cover how to remove the background in Affinity Photo using the selection brush tool. In my opinion this is one of the EASIEST way to mask out the background of a photo, especially for photos a very distinct background like in this example.

I found this whilst looking for better ways to remove backgrounds for our thumbnails (I get where I need to eventually, but it's always more of a pain than I'd like). I hadn't considered selecting the background first but this makes a lot more sense! Looking forward to checking out more of your stuff.

You can also use the refine button to save the work on smoothing out the edges of caterpillar. It will select, or deselect, the hairs. Or the background eraser brush if the background is plain.
