Although I'm an Opel/Vauxhall fan I can't deny the thumbnail vehicle was a sad sight as it looked a nicely prepped car.

One place i can think of one place in europe that American cars are just as common as a European one, Lakenheath and Mildenhall in Cambridgeshire. These two places are home to RAF bases under those same names, and despite them being called "RAF" bases, they are quite literally fully fledged USAF bases. Im talking every aircraft stationed there (F35s, F15s etc.) is of USAF origin, the service vehicles are all American, generally being Chevvys, GMCs and more Fords for the pick up trucks. And that is only the tip of the iceberg...

In the villages of Lakenheath and Mildenhall (these two villages and AF bases are no furher than 2km away from eachother) the population is predominantly american familes of servicemen, and as such 90% of them have LHD american domestic market cars registered to the UK on british plates. And i remember going through there once and passing a lexus dealership, and it was selling left hand drive brand new cars 🤣 its a brilliant place to be and nowhere else in the UK really matches it for a variety of cars

PS, would have thought a MK3 MX5 would be a great rally weapon . Ford based engine, bulletproof gearbox & diff & cheap !

Can’t wait to see Tesla’s rallying. They won’t carry fire extinguishers, they are useless. Special stages will be much shorter, then recharging them, and then the Scandinavian Flick will be gone forever, because the computer won’t let it will spin.

Rallying these beautiful old cars is amazing.
