Oh. My. God. I read „The Egg“ a couple of years ago on a tumblr post and I kept thinking about it over the years and it drove me mad that I couldn’t find it again. I didn’t know it was by Andy Weir. So THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! You absolutely made my day, Emily! 😍

Also read multiple books at a time across different genres. And it's so satisfying when they all finish within 1-2 days one after another.

- First Answer:
I hate love trianges with a passion. There has only been ONE love triangle that i was okay with, and it was because all three sides loved each individual equally. Cassandra Clare's Infernal Devices is her best series, only time the love triange didn't make me want to throw something.
My hatred for them is bad enough that if i see a hinting of one, i will actually ditch the book entirely, or go look up spoilers for who they end up with if the series is completed (and i really like the world/characters). So i can not relate on that. XD

-Second Answer:
I find your answer on book series really interesting, but also completely alien. Because sometimes it takes a very long time for your character to develop the way you want them to. And ssme with the other minor characters as well, there's just way too many details you would have to pack together and shortchange if you were to condense it all into one book.
For me, personally though, i think the perfect length for a "Series" is 5 - 6 books. It not only is compact enough to interest new readers, but its also still long enough to satisfy older ones looking to chomp their teeth into something. After that, i think its... excessive. And 10+ is just utterly ridiculous. (Looking at you Wheel of Time and Sword of Truth series)

That book you’re describing, where you want to finish it in a day, THAT is The Way of Kings. I actually did that for the harry potter books (Yes Book 5, 6 and 7 included) as it came out every year when I was younger and this is the first series that made me feel that way again!💙 So excited for you.

loooved Emma from Jane Austen !! And since you mentioned Andy Weir, loved the Martian as well, even though I'm listening to it in English, and I'm not English speaking so it's a bit tough to follow sometimes so better reading it but the reader is awesome !

OMG His Dark Materials is my fave story of all time but I HATED The Secret Commonwealth. Not because it was boring, but because it made me extremely angry. Don't want to spoil, but I both can't wait to know what you think once you're done with tit, AND I also want to tell you not to bother finishing it!

Nothing like an Emily video after work ❤❤
Also, not a huge fan of Foundryside - leaving it at 3🌟

Realized that I haven’t read The book that griped me so hard I had to finish it in a day in a time. Kinda sad, need that in my life!

The Secret Commonwealth is probably my most disappointing read of 2019. I have so many issues with it.
I am so glad I am not the only one who reads multiple books at the same time. It's rare for me to solely focus on one. :)

I've ordered Foundryside recently from my local book shop Emily. The Egg sounds interesting.

I hope you'll at least like Foundryside enough to read Bennett's Divine Cities Trilogy. If I'm not mistaken, Foundryside was his attempt at making his book more mainstream. I like Foundryside but Divine Cities made me love reading again. It's also hard to get into at first but I end up falling in love with the characters. I hope you'll be able to read them as well.
