Yes cats can be trained. Their sense of smell is very strong. Friends who have cats come over my cats will smell my friends then cry at them. It is awesome that dogs and cats can be trained to do detection jobs.

My cat alerts me to my seizures. I didn’t have to train her though. She comes and sniffs at my hands and starts meowing in my face. I never realized that was actually what she was doing until I saw another cat on YouTube alerting to seizures.
