Да́угавпилс — город республиканского подчинения в Латвии, второй по величине и значению город страны после Риги. Самый южный из всех городов республики, расположен на реке Даугаве, недалеко от границы с Литвой и Белоруссией. Город основан в 1275 году как крепость Динабург.

Город основан в 1275 году как крепость (замок) Динабург (первоначально располагался в 19 км выше по течению реки Двины от нынешнего месторасположения города).

до 1667 — Борисоглебов
до 1893 — Динабург
до 1920 — Двинск
до 1941 — Даугавпилс
до 1944 — Дюнабург

русские — 47,79 %,
латыши — 20,93 %,
поляки — 12,98 %,
белорусы — 7,32 %,
украинцы — 1,93 %,
литовцы — 0,87 %,
