These are 3 books you NEED to read; which I'll be covering on this week's episode of MasterTalk. Follow me on Instagram: @masteryourtalk

1. Thirst by Scott Harrison (1:00)

As you all know, I’m someone who cares about the world and wants to impact it positivity like many of you watching MasterTalk, but I find the biggest challenge of “changing the world” is not knowing the tangible steps on what exactly to do. And, this book, in my opinion, gives you the formula to figuring out how to make a difference in the world. Enter Scott Harrison, a nightclub performer who spent the majority of his 20s getting wealthy folks to spend exorbitant amounts of money on well, not bottles of orange juice, let’s leave it at that who gets called to change his ways and start anew and goes on to start a charity called charity:water to end the global water crisis, where essentially 10% of the human population are currently drinking out of swamps, instead of clean water and has raised over 380M$. His memoir, is far by the best book I’ve read in my life because it helped guide me in the idea of being of enormous service to others. The beauty of YouTube now is anyone who is afraid of public speaking, provided they have internet connection, can watch a lot of my tips for free and get started! I was inspired to make a difference in the world because of Scott and I hope by reading this book, it inspires the same to you. Also, it is a New York Times Best Seller and was endorsed by many well-known folks like Bill Gates, Richard Branson, Michael Bloomberg, etc. So, pick it up, since this is one of 3 books you need to read.

2. Zero to One by Peter Thiel (2:31)

It’s very surprising that a lot of people know about Elon Musk, but not that much about Peter Thiel, who happens to be the 1st investor in a little company called Facebook and was also one of the founders of Paypal with Elon Musk. The reason why you need to read his book is because he presents a very interesting way to help people figure out what their unique superpower is and how to do what they are meant to do with their lives. He starts the memoir by asking readers the following question and statement: he says the world is built on secrets, and if you’re able find one no one else knows and pursue it relentlessly, you will become successful beyond any measure. He also asks a question I’ve asked probably 100s in my life which is the following: What is the truth that you believe in that most people would disagree with you on? That lies the secret to your success. Mine was I believe a lot of people want to conquer public speaking, but don’t have the right resources to succeed, so on that intrinsic belief, I started MasterTalk. I almost guarantee his contrarian views in life will spark some sort of inspiration within you. This is one of the 3 books you need to read.

3. Give & Take by Adam Grant (4:40)

This book was recommended to me by a partner at McKinsey, it’s a consulting firm, where they essentially solve the world’s hardest problems through a team of people who are super smart, and he said it was the best book he ever read in his life so I took a look and man was I impressed. Adam Grant, is an organizational behavior professor at the Wharton School and you might know him from the book Option B, a book he co-wrote with Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer. His classic book argues that, in very simple terms, if you’re just a good person and force yourself to give more to others, you will succeed in the world more often than not, this is a controversial statement, because especially in Western countries, we’re taught that the world is a competition, and you need to win the race or you’ll get left behind. He essentially argues that by lifting others up, you’ll not only be more fulfilled, but you’ll be incredibly successful than “takers” as he calls them, people who take advantage of others. His theories, in my life, anyways were pretty spot on. I grew in subscribers very quickly mainly because I’ve helped 100s of people over the years in business school and my goodwill & reputation made everyone want to support me fervently so I rose to 1000 subscribers very fast because of my innate giving which I also love to do, so giving isn’t just a good feeling, it also makes economic sense, and this book proves it without a hint of doubt, so read it. Definitely one of the 3 books you need to read.

Video suggestion: How to present your ideas to people who have zero knowledge about the topic? (ex: present tech to business people, or vice-versa) Any planning process/ considerations that the presenter has to go through?
