I think the form factor, particularly with the thinness and the ability to fold with no gap are they way foldables need to go. I would like to see a less reflective interior surface (which might hide the crease a bit) and the ability to use it with a stylus. Also, it seems that it doesn't fold out completely flat. Pretty good for the first one. Hopefully Google doesn't just give up if they have problems or sales don't go as well as they would like.

I have a Fold 4, and honestly, I wish Samsung had done a landscape fold, instead of a portrait fold. That would have made the outside more "standard" phone size, and using splitscreen apps is better in that orientation anyway.

Missing Spen support is really a killer for me . I use the spen on my zfold4 to sign pdf files on the weekly basis.

I'll be very fascinated how Michael Fisher will feel when he gets this Pixel Fold and reviews it. He's been using foldables since January 1, 2020. For this entire decade. But he's only been using Samsung foldables for the last 3.5 years. Those other ones are test units. Be curious how he'll feel going to a non-Samsung foldable as a daily driver for the first time in this decade.

I actually really dig it because the Z Fold design never really made sense to me. It's too narrow when closed which makes typing from the front a nightmare. Sure, it's easier to grip but typing sucks. Then it's also too tall when closed. I think Google really nailed the dimensions to this. Short enough that it won't stick out of your pocket. Wide enough to type from the outside. Packs the same 7.6" inner display as the Z Fold 4 even with all those bezels but in a smaller footprint.

I do believe the Z Fold 5 will have better scores than this Pixel Fold. We're comparing a Gen 5 product to a Gen 1. You would think Samsung would figure it out by now after 4 years of foldables. Their software experience should be more refined. Add the fact it has DEX. But I never understood the dimensions for them. Very, very few new smartphones excites me during the last few years but this seems like one of them.

The Pixel Fold 1 is if the Surface Duo and Oppo Find N had a baby. I think this is going to be my favorite smartphone of the year even if it carries more flaws as the Z Fold 5 being that's it's a Gen 1 product without enough years of refinement. Looks way more pocketable and I love the fingerprint scanner is on the power button and not an in-display like the Pixel 6 and 7 which I hate. Too slow. Side button is way more instant.

Looks like a winner, Michael Fisher. Can't wait for you to review it. I'll get it in white (or "porcelain") too and put a clear case on it like my iPhone X. Looks really classy with a clear case and the silver, chrome-y sides. And speaking of the sides, it's rounded like the Find N and N2. It seems since last year, Samsung is shaving the sides by making them flatter. I prefer them rounded.

Nearly the same height as the HTC One M7 and Nexus 5. Hell yeah! Hell naw to the price.

Google phones are always heavily discounted within a couple of months of launching - I think they probably wanted to make sure there was no perception that this is a budget phone with a lower price. They wanna peg it as a flagship. But still accessible with all the discounting later on.

Hopefully Google will keep at it and continue releasing foldables. I love the wider form factor but totally agree that Google should have undercut Samsung on pricing. Get more people in and future iterations will be a sure win

I really wonder why Samsung should be seen as competition to the pixel fold. Everything but the design and softwsre is made by samsung. Every unit sold is more money for Samsung. I'd say the pixel fold is 80% Samsung. Samsung themselves should be happy about the pixel fold, since it will bring more foldable-software to android.

Zoom stabilized optical 5x would be great if the standard camera (1x) is not very tiny... And the 5x is in reality a 1x of what you see with your eyes = no zoom at all.
