Did you know that in this song, Ray Manzarek was influenced by Herbie Hancock’s “Watermelon Man”?

Stay in touch with The Doors…

*******************

The Doors channel is the official YouTube home of classic Doors live performances, The Doors albums, and contemporary performances and content honoring The Doors featuring John Densmore and Robby Krieger.

With an intoxicating, genre-blending sound, provocative and uncompromising songs, and the mesmerizing power of singer Jim Morrison’s poetry and presence, The Doors had a transformative impact not only on popular music but on popular culture.

The Doors’ arrival on the rock scene in 1967 marked not only the start of a string of hit singles and albums that would become classics, but also of something much bigger – a new and deeper relationship between creators and audience. Refusing to be mere entertainers, the Los Angeles quartet relentlessly challenged, confronted and inspired their fans, leaping headfirst into the heart of darkness while other bands warbled about peace and love. Though they’ve had scores of imitators, there’s never been another band quite like them.

Music is my only friend. I'm 62 and this is the stone cold truth. Thank you Jim and the Doors

I was there, in a box seat. The Rolling Stones were there. Couldn't have imagined 56 years later anyone would see this.

He sure got it right, the absence of music is definitely darkness. ❤Doors.

Jim often looked like he'd rather be anywhere else than on stage. He'd close his eyes and drift away. Almost looking surprised when he opened them and realised where he was? Morrisons poetry was really powerful and a musical and lyrical improvisation was a key component in their best live performances.

Wish I could have seen them live, but I was only born in the early 70s. I got into their music around 1988. Still one of my favourite bands.

I'm an absolute Stan for Jim Morrison. His mind is beautiful and watching these gives be a peek into what he was like in person. That's so cool
