Assam News | Assam Against Polygamy: Can State Enact Law?| Himanta Biswa Sarma | English News

On Thursday, May 11, the Assam government, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, constituted a four-member committee to examine the legal authority of the state legislature to implement a law prohibiting polygamy.

Taking to Twitter, the Assam CM announced the formation of the four-member committee and revealed the names of the committee members adding that the committee has been given a deadline of 60 days to present its report.
