Who on earth does this benafit??? They do realize that if all their workers are dying of heatstroke there will be no one to work right?

The US cares more about the rights of corporations than the rights of individuals. It's sickening.

So we should have De Santis without AC in his office. It obviously should affect him too.

While there is no federal law that specifically protects workers from extreme heat, the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) of 1970's General Duty Clause requires employers to provide a workplace free from recognized hazards that could cause serious harm or death to employees. This includes exposure to extreme heat.

Same thing in Texas. We've been hitting 100° for a month and we've got 3 more months to go.

It’s hurtful how cruel we can be to each other. These are people. My mangos, though delicious, are not worth this.

Ask the Christo-fascists to pass any law with kindness for the common people behind it and you'll find them always repulsed by it.

Great job Florida, that’s how you start a union. If you don’t protect the people they’ll protect themselves.

I dont even understand why they would ban this. Its so wierd. What could posibly be the reason to make those peoples work dangerous and miserable😢

This is wild. In Australia not only do employees get those break they must also be provided with appropriate safety gear to reduce the chance of skin cancer, which includes specialised clothing, sunscreen, hats and sunglasses (job permitting).

Florida regularly hits 100° and the rivers have fucking alligators so you can't jump in, in an act of desperation. What are they supposed to do in order to avoid the heat at this point?

I live in Florida and just sitting outside can make you over heat. It’s an insane law and should have been passed in the SUNSHINE state of all places

Floridians pretty much universally hate this law.

im pretty sure this actually violates OSHA.

The justification for these laws is that they can have consistent state wide regulations. The problem is the state wide regulation is no regulation.

Time to unionize the farm laborers. DeSantis thinks they can do without shade and water? Let's see him do without food see who cracks first.

They did this in Texas first. As a child growing up in Texas, every summer they would start the 10pm news with the heat related death count which would steadily climb. They don't do that anymore. Probably the bosses complained the news drawing attention to it.

Lobbying or say with me now legally distinct bribery.

In Florida too. You know, the state that had to invent air conditioning because everyone was having heat stroke and dying. The state where it can be over 90°f without including the average 75%-100% humidity. That state?
