The truth is, we don't know how much he contributed to the song...my guess is that the song was written and perhaps he re-arranged things or added a line. Let me give you an example... Demi Lovato's song "Heart Attack" has Demi's name in the writing credits. But the demo of it got leaked and the lyrics are pretty much the same. She made some vocal arrangements, yet still got songwriting credit. Meghan Trainor did an interview recently about how singers take credit for songs they didn't write.

Also, the song was co-written by Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels, who happen to be big songwriters right now, and I doubt they only wrote 1/2 a song. If he wrote it with them, you'd think he'd remember their names, right?

But this is not undermining his songwriting capability...I'm just saying we shouldn't assume anything because we don't know who exactly wrote what.
