Should we tell people, 'Jesus Loves You'?

Dr. Leighton Flowers continues to play through a recent sermon by Jeff Durbin from Apologia church in which he gives a defense of Calvinistic theology. In this section Jeff actually discourages his congregation from telling people "Jesus Love You" because that is "never what we hear the apostles doing."

Growing up Calvinist, I was only a child when it hit me that, based on what I'd been taught, Jesus may have never wanted me. Calvinism is dreadful, because it makes God a duplicitous God.

Durbin is a puppeteer of the hipster Calvinist movement... He activates my gag reflex on a regular basis. This is no exception. What a distorted, twisted, and decidedly unbiblical theology he continues to superimpose upon gospel truth, that God does love all people without distinction. Love is the power that will push you to believe you can live for God. Marriage is a perfect example. You might covet, but you won't obey your temptation for the sake of your love for your spouse. If you can do it for your spouse, you can do it for your God.

I had to comment as soon as I saw the titile of this video. Back in may of 2018 I came to the startling realization that I had become a luke-warm Christian. At the time, I could go days without picking up my bible. I could hold lengthy conversations with people and never mention Christ. Then in May of 2018, the Lord kindled a new fire in my heart for His word, for prayer and for evangelism. I made a commitment that I will say, "Jesus loves you!" to EVERYONE I come in contact with. It has been amazing how it opens doors. I thought people might get angry or resent it but so far I have only been met with positive reactions. I also give a gospel tract or a Gospel of John along with my favorite three-word greeting. I have talked about this often and others have followed my example, especially my mom. Mom is 83 and for the first time in her life she is an evangelist, telling every person she sees, Jesus Loves You! -Blessings

God's command to repent comes from a heart of love.

Jeff Durbin’s presentation of the Gospel is angry, superior and self-righteous. Surely, the call to repentance comes through a person who preaches from a heart of love and understanding? That is not effeminate by any means.

We plead, we don't look down our noses at ”the scum”.

one thing for sure, Durbin doesn't believe god loves or died for all but i'll put money on the table that Durbin believes God loves him.
