My Reaction - The Very First Episode

We are all the way back to Season 1 Episode 1 in a well timed full-circle since our last watch together.
I would like to personally welcome all of you to the introduction of my family to the world and to get into the mindset of seeing these people and this lifestyle for the first time, all those years ago, in Lehi, Utah.

Funny, Gwen says Christine played the stereotypical mother role and Janelle a mother/father role. I think the same thing. Those two held that family together. Kody, with all his chaos, probably added to their load. They stuck with him thru abject poverty and as soon as the show that Christine was responsible for them getting, brought them improved finances, he treated them like dirt, kicked them to the curb, and doted on his new wife who came into the family, just in time to enjoy all the spoils of the increased money. It is such a sad ending to this chapter of their story.

Can you imagine being 7 to 8 months pregnant and your husband against all his wives wishes decided to "court" a 4th wife. Janelle didn't even know it was happening... THAT'S CHEATING. So gross. That should have been the the biggest indicator that it would destroy this family. The lust he displayed while his wife was in the hospital giving birth to the selfishness of it all. He did not care what any of his other wives felt at the time.

The vibe of the whole show was so different. Then Robyn comes in and EVERYTHING changes for the worse! So happy that Christine woke up to all the gaslighting.

It always breaks my heart seeing Logan parentified at such a young age.

No one who's reacting to the early episodes talks about Meri's colon cancer scare. I remember thinking how hard it would be to be both Meri and Christine, one testing for cancer, the other having a baby, while their husband is courting another woman and spread way too thin.

3:33 I loved Janelle for saying that: “you’re not getting married until you go to college and get yourself an education” because I think that is solid guidance generally. Sounds like something my mom would say & I love her confidence. Love that she had that conversation with the older girls

Why do I feel like unfortunately before Robin came into the picture this family was happy and supportive, nobody was competing with anyone else, it was just people living life, Kody even said he tries to account for all his time so everyone gets the same amount of it, it’s wild how much that ideation changed. Kody changed a lot.

Your mom and Janelle were blindsided by Robyn coming into the family. It was kept secret between Meri and your dad for awhile. That didn't come out til later seasons. Your mom was understandably jealous as she was pregnant but she wasn't a bully. It will be interesting to see your pov.

One of the reasons they worked so well together was because they was all together when they started having babies and growing the family. Trying to add Robyn and her three kids was too big of an adjustment after 16 years.

First episode really makes me feel like Robyn ruined the family-hopefully unintentionally but you guys used to live in same house as the 3 wives. Seemed like it was best back then, got to see all your siblings and moms able to help each other while having your own space.

I was never a watcher of sister wives. With that being said, i find this channel charming.
The honesty of a child watching your family as you grow up! It's fascinating.
Of all the wives, Christine is the one i find most interesting. Her relationship with Jenelle is so sweet. Her life is the most happy/sad. She goes through life looking for the 4 leaf clover. Even when her marriage fell apart. She picked up her kids and started over. I hope Christine finds her happy.
