I once stood beside an American woman at a viewpoint in the Trossachs looking out over the forest and lochs and she said,
This place would be beautiful if it wasn't for all this rain".
I replied,
"This place is beautiful because of all this rain".
A wee light came on in her eyes, she smiled and turned back to the view with a whole new appreciation of Scotland, while standing there soaking wet, but happy.

I am german but absolutely love scotland since i can remember. Some weeks ago i found out that i had scottish ancestors at one point in history because i have quite a bit scottish DNA. I never expected this and it was one of the best news i ever got!😃 I went to scotland many times over the last 25 years and it always was as if coming home. In 2 weeks i will be there, after 2 and a half years absence due to covid. Can't wait to be in scotland again🥰.

Born, roamed around parts of the world then returned to the heart of Scotland when I retired. The red hair thing is also because many people do not realise just how far north Scotland is. I live above 56°N, that relates to Fort McMurray Alberta, or above both Moscow's (I'll leave you to work that one out). Edinburgh is a place to visit but if you go to Glasgow or Aberdeen, get an interpreter, unless you know an American working there. It is the place to be if you are a landscape artist or photographer as the west coast is home to 5 BBC wildlife cameramen.

Now, I have a bone to pick with you. The Unicorn is as real as Haggis, we have two types of Haggii, the Lowland Haggis and the Highland Mountain Haggis, you can tell them apart, the mountain variety have two long legs on one side and two short legs on the other side, so, when they are running around the mountainside they don't fall over. A few years ago there was a genetic mutation that had to be eradicated to save the species, some were born with their legs the other way around so they ran round the mountain the other way and they would collide with the dominant species but they sorted it out and now the species is thriving. What is funny is we get tourist shooters who go out on the mountain, it gives us such a laugh when we see them facing the wrong direction and for them to jump as the haggis go flying past them from behind. As far as the Unicorn is concerned we sent them off to Africa to protect them from hunting and you can still see them even though they have gotten a little chubby, in Africa, they call them Rhino's.
He Brides, HAHAHAHAHA, I have heard that one before, Hebrides. Shetney Island, where the h*** is that, I think he meant Shetland, I hope he meant Shetland!
I don't think that blue light would work in our town, we never see any police.

As far as wildlife goes, there is also the preservation of the Highland Wildcat, the RZSS runs a program to breed pure Wildcats and release them into the Scottish countryside.

Go to the Highlands and the Lochs to see the beauty of Scotland.
Great video, great reaction.

The Unicorn in legend is the only animal that can beat the lion (which is the national animal of England). It is specifically a unicorn in chains that is the national animal of Scotland, as it is said that only the the Kings of Scotland are pure enough of heart to capture one.

I’ve never heard of that wedding tradition…I should maybe make it clear that I am Scottish.

So I was born in New Zealand, moved to Canada as a kid but then married an Englishman and we live with our kids in Scotland. Gosh this reminded me we haven’t gone into actual Edinburgh for over 2 years now because of covid so hopefully we’ll take the train in this summer!
The main big tourist sites are amazing but just going anywhere is something else. I take my dog in the woods for a walk and you find ruins of ancient houses, the foundations are still there! Lol, my friends here think it no big deal and I’m there exploring every nook and cranny because it’s just so cool!
I live about halfway between Edinburgh and Glasgow and it’s just so beautiful!

If you want to experience Scotland in a short trip - visit Edinburgh and Glasgow, visit the Border country and Galloway, visit the mountains and lochs of Perthshire. With extra time (or another visit) go to the North and West - taking in the Hebrides and Orkney. Skye is crazy busy in summer but Easter and autumn (mid-August onwards) are magical - with spring freshness or autumn colours.

The good news is that when you're in Germany you're really not very far from Scotland...

I'm English and have had some fabulous holidays in Scotland. It is beautiful and the Scottish people are very friendly. I think those stacks he showed were the Duncansby Stacks..? A lovely area in the north east.

Another interesting thing about Scotland is that in the hight of summer, the sun doesn't set till about 10:30-11 at night and rises about 3 in the morning :)

I really hope you get a chance to visit one day. If you want to combine ancient buildings with islands, don't miss 5000 year old Scara Brae on Orkney. The Western Isles are stunning but bring plenty of midge repellent - one part of our wildlife the video didn't mention. Greetings from Scotland.

11:30 Paris has a series of tapestries from ~1500 called "the lady and the unicorn" in a museum ("of the medieval ages" or so). The meaning of these tapestries is "debated" and it could be "the SIX senses" ...

In any case ... you can see copies of these tapestries in the Harry Potter movies (the earlier ones) in the Gryffindor Common room.

Great seeing you reacting to a video about Scotland. I hail from a place right next door to Scotland, a small group of islands called the Faroe Islands, and I did in fact marry a Scottish woman so I have gotten to know Scotland a lot more because of that. I found it interesting that they never mentioned that in Scotland the flag is know as the Saltire. Also, don't tell Scots that unicorns don't exist because they do exist! :) Oh man, "he-brides"? No, "HEB-ruh-dees" :)

We did the NC500 Road trip around Scotland in 2019. Did it over 11 days so we could spend time in different places. Honestly more enjoyable and interesting than Route 66 in the states. Didn't cost much either to air bnb, eat out every day, + fuel etc.

He mispronounced the Hebrides Islands it is pronounced Hebridees. Edinburgh is a great city, if you want to see stone age villages (6000 BC) then go to Orkney or Shetland. The Cairngorm National Park is great for hill walking and seeing the wilder part of Scotland
